What time do/did your 3-month olds go to sleep? We want to start a consistent bedtime routine, but I don’t know what time we should be shooting for. We’re still doing a 11pm and 3pm feeding. The boys get up around 6am.

    Thanks!

I started trying to get mine in the crib by 8pm after baths and a bottle, then have some free time until 11pm when ours also took their bottle and I'd goto bed after that. Mine were like yours and would get up around 3-4 for another then again about 7am or so. I'm still doing the same, but they have dropped their before bed feeding and just eat their 7-8pm bottle and dont wake up until about 4 or so. I've gotten super lucky a couple nights and they didnt wake up until 7! But they were HUNGRY!! :D

Our bedtime is/was at 3 months 8pm and they wake at 8am. Babies this age need 12 hours of sleep per night and 5-6 hours of sleep (nap) during the day. We also do the "Bath, Bottle, Bed" routine, it's awesome! It's a great mental trigger to them that sleepy time is here. Mine didn't still need middle of the night bottles anymore though at three months old, it was a straight through 8pm-8am, so I don't know if that will change things for you?

We started about 3-4 months getting them to bed after the 8pm ish bottle.

  5. At about 2 mnths we started putting babies down between 8-9 pm. DS slept through til morning. DD slept til about 2-3 am, fed, then went back down. DD eventually started sleeping through night at about 4 months. There bed time is now 9/9:30pm as they started waking up an hour before my alarm went off, so we adjusted their bed time accordingly.

Also, I think the key to a good night sleep routine is a day nap time routine.

Mine (preemies) were still eating every 3 hrs at 12/3/6/9 (repeat) so they went to bed after their 6pm bottle. We go to bed at 8 so it worked best for us. They stuck with it for a while, but when DH was sad he didn't get to spend much time with them (gets home at 5pm) we pushed it gradually to 6:45/7. Mine got up at 5:30am most days. I would do it with whatever you want them to be a year from now. What works for your family? Do you eat dinner at 5 or 7? We are def. morning people and made sure the babies joined our schedule instead of us adjusting to theirs. This, of course, took several months!
