These are my first babies and I'm over 20 weeks now and I swear I STILL cannot really distinguish the movements of the babies (not one from the other, but I actually cant tell what is them moving at all). I feel like a dummy at this point because everyone is always talking about feeling their babies move but honestly, I just cant tell. Sometimes I feel fluttering and rollings in my tummy that would typically feel like gas but I suspect that it might be the babies that I'm feeling. What does it actually FEEL like at this stage? I am so perplexed.

You will know. I didn't feel them until almost 22 weeks. If you have your hand on your stomach you can really tell. Trust me before you know it you won't be questioning it. :)

My baby A has posterior placenta and I feel her movement since 18 weeks but baby B has anterior placenta and I think I start feeling him only might be coupole of weeks ago.
as advice during the u/s check if you feel that flattting and ask if the baby moved at that moment. this is what I always did with baby B. I was surprise when u/s tech told me that he is the same active as Baby A. I didn't feel him at all.

I'd bet that some of what you're feeling is actually movement - that's what it's always felt like to me in the beginning. Pretty soon it will be strong enough that you will know without a doubt.

I was going to say you may not feel them to as late as 22 weeks or maybe even later since this is your first pregnancy.

I did not feel them for sure until around 25 weeks and even then it was very little. Find out where your placentas are. I barely ever feel one baby because the placenta is acting as a cushion. You will know when you feel it.

    It's probably the babies. :)

I didn't feel them until about 22 weeks and the first time it felt like gas or a butterfly's wings, but it was not in the usual "gas" place. For the first week or so, I had to be laying in bed, really quiet and concentrating and then I could sometimes feel them. Soon it became obvious and then I was feeling them all the time!

Thats exactly what I feel. Feels kinda gasy and rolly feeling. Its really hard to explain and I know its not gas because I only feel it when I am lying still or sitting still and quiet

Yep, thats pretty much how it works for me as well. Its a strange sensation, not quite what I'm used to with gas.

    Thanks ladies!

I'd venture to guess that what you're feeling is the babies. It took me FOREVER to feel my son move with my first pregnancy, once I felt it I realized it was something that I had been feeling for a while.

Even now and even at 32 weeks, I can't feel a lot of the movement of the babies that I see on the u/s. Don't get me wrong, I feel movement every day but what I feel is the huge movements.....not all the little ones.

I bet it is the babies you are feeling. With my twin pregnancy the only way I knew who was who was because if I felt a movement towards my cervix I knew it must be baby A. otherwise I felt like I was pregnant with one giant octopus.

Wow how great was it to log on and see this question, I was at work today talking to some of my prego co-workers who say they have felt their singltons from week 13 and week 14, this is my second pregnancy and I still only feel the gas sensation that you describe. Right then I started to panic to my self and thought as soon as I get home I am going to post a question to everyone about this, could something be wrong? And to my surprise here was the answers that put my mind at ease, thank you ladies, I don't know what I would do with out this site, being so far away from home and all. =)

I felt fluttering @ 15 weeks, then it just got more pronounced as the weeks went on. DH & DS can feel them move at 17 weeks. Now they are so strong, we all sit and watch my stomach move when they kick. Baby A is more active, so when he gets on a roll, I let them know and they come and watch my stomach. But everyone is different. Im sure its the babies moving around.

I think you're probably feeling the babies, but I was exactly like you. I was at least 22 weeks (maybe more) before I knew for sure that I was feeling them. I had soooo much gas for the entire pregnancy, but especially the first half -- and baby movements really do feel (at first) like gas bubbles!

Even now, sometimes when I have gas, I'll automatically think it's the babies moving. :D

I think you are feeling them! I remember my doctor at that time asking me if I could feel them moving, and I said I thought it was gas!

I agree about having the u/s tech tell you when someone kicks you - then you can remember the feeling for the next time. That helped me to see one of them moving on the screen, and notice the feeling at the same time.

Don't worry - soon you will feel them all over the place! And sometimes in the middle of night at 3 a.m.!!

i felt baby B at 16 weeks but i didn't feel baby A until much much later. it's apparently tougher to feel them if they're kicking at your back. ^_^

it's quite possible that the "gas" is baby movement. i was sitting at work the day i realized i was feeling movement. i got up and walked to the bathroom 5 times before i realized i only felt these gas flutters when i was sitting and rocked way back in my chair. that's when i realized it wasn't gas.

(and even if it's not, it's okay to tell yourself it is :p )
