    Does anyone use this formula?
If so did you start off using it from birth or switch from a different formuls( if so what one) or switch from breastfeeding to gentlease?

The reason I ask is this. Tyler my 3 month old is a breastfeed baby. However on Monday morning my Dh gave him a 4oz bottle of Enfamil Lipil and 2 hours later Tyler was very sick throwing up everything he had just eaten at 8am and then becoming very lethargic and not responding to us. We took him to the hospital and they said they didnt think it was a protein allergy but we could switch him to soy milk. I talked to the peds office and they said they didnt know why they would say switch him to soy but i could use something that might not be as hard on his tummy or mix the formula with BM.

I am going to try to continue to BF Tyler as long as possible but I am going to try out this formula sometime in the next day or so to see how he does on it so when I do have to put him on it not eatting something thats making him sick.

if you use this formula can you tell me why you decided to use this or why the Dr. might have switched you.

    Any info would be great!

    TIA

I used that for a while and it did help with gas. I found they did better with the similac sensitive which is lactose free. They don't seem to spit up as much or struggle with the bottle.

I use Gentlease for both my kids...we switched to it from regular formula because the milk proteins are broken down and it's not as harsh on their tummies. We were having horrible reflux and spit up problems, and it seemed to clear it right up. They were also able to take more formula at a time because it wasn't tearing up their tummies. Hope this helps! (Oh, the doc didn't tell us to use it, we decided for ourselves)

We BF and formula feed. We started on Enfamil Lipil, but they were both really gassy. When we switched to Gentlease, they seemed to do better. We've just stayed on it since. From about 6 weeks on, they each got at least one bottle of formula a day. This way their bellies stayed "familiar" with the formula in addition to the BM. Don't know that we needed to do that... that's just what my sleep deprived brain figured was a good idea

I'm sorry you had such a scare!

we also started with infamil lipil when they were born but both boys had terrible gas for a long time, we didn't know why....then we switched to the soy b/c i heard it would help with the gas, but they got contipated, so now we're on similac sensitive and they're both doing great!

Hi there! Take it from a pro-mom on formula...do not switch to SOY! If indeed your little one has allergies or sensitivities to regular formula, soy can be even worse! My DS and DD were strictly BF until I finally gave up for too many reasons to name here! At week 8 we started trying every kind of formula known to man. Every baby is different. Both did VERY well on Enfamil Gentlease. We noticed a huge difference once we switched them both to it. Just a quick explanation here is needed- Lactose intolerance is pretty rare for babies and it is different from protein sensitivity or protein allergy. If baby has protein sensitivity or allergy there is usually eczema, blood in stool, very loose stools, colicky crying, etc. I know because my DD has it. Gentlease helped her but with her drs help we decided if she was doing better with the Gentlease (which is partially broken down) then she may do REALLY well on Nutramigen (which is for protein problems) and boy were we all right! Her skin is gorgeous now and she drinks it like she LOVES it...which I've heard is another sign they have protein problems because a baby usually feels so much better once they start drinking it. My DS rejected Nutramigen very quickly and would NOT drink it! He was on Gentlease for some time but we eventually switched him to Nestle Good Start with the comfort proteins and the added pro-biotics (which are great things in my opinion) and he loves it. It is also gentle on his belly and he likes the taste better than the Gentlease. I hope this helps you! It's a hard thing to find the formula that works for your baby but don't give up!

Also, babies who have protein problems usually have a hard time with breast milk as well, unless you remove all milk products from your diet...I doubt that's the issue...but if he has never had formula before it could've just been a shock to his system? It's a good thing you took him to the hospital...good move. Good luck with the formulas!

Thanks for all the info. Tyler has NO problems at all with the BM and I eat everything and eat and drink lots of dairy as well. I have not tried the grntlease yet as IM scared to death after the yesterday reaction, Throwing up I can understand but what came after that scared me to death.... Im hoping in the next few days to give it a go just incase I cant get the supply back up. I have contacted someone at the La Leche League so Im hoping to get some great info.

    Thanks
