Enfagrow or milk?

My boys have been on milk since 9 months, but we got some Enfagrow samples in the mail the other day so I let them try it. Well to my complete shock, they loved it - to the point where they started crying when they were done because it was gone.

Is there a benefit to giving them the Enfagrow instead of milk? My guys are tiny and I would love to plump them up some! They were 17.5 and 19.5 at 15 months.

    Thanks!

i also have never heard of it, which would make me leary. i say stick with the most natural substance possible, which in this, case i'm guessing, would be milk. read the ingredients on the enfagrow, do they sound reasonable to you? ftr, i am not a fan of the 'free' sample marketing, but i understand many don't mind it.

as for plumping them up, is there a health concern you have about their size? have you talked to their dr about it? is s/he concerned? avocados are great for kids (and adults!) and have lots of good fat in them, not to mention the nutrients. olive oil is good too. i add that to soups, lentils, pasta, dip bread in it, etc.

i know where you are coming from. micah is small too. at almost 18 months he is still hovering between 19.5 and 20 lbs. he eats well and nurses plenty, he is just a small guy! still can't help myself from wishing he was bigger, though i know he's healthy.

i think if ur boys like it and it is really packed with vitamins that those li'l guys need..then give it to them..i would just ask the dr 1st of course....i think i may try that with my boys too... 1 sippie cup a day...

My immediate thought is to check with the pedi. Make sure it's not too high in SOMETHING that is ok in low doses or something kwim? Your doc might have a reason they don't want you to, but they also might just give you the :good: - it probably won't take more than a call to the receptionist.

I wonder what the difference is between this and say a Next Step formula? My ped didn't really have anything positive to say about the Next Step stuff, he said regular milk is fine.

It basically is next step formula. Just made by Enfamil. It's marketed for 1 to 3 year old. We used it for the first year, as we had used Enfamil formulas. BUT, I don't have access to fresh pasteristed milk. I can by long life (ultrapasterized milk) or very fresh, unpasterized milk that farmers sell door to door immediately after they finish milking their cows. That's what DH grew up on, but it makes me squimish. I also don't really like the long life stuff which doesn't have much taste, so I just kept them on formula until they were 2 and finally dropped it because of the price.
