Energy?

So should I just kiss the hopes of gaining some energy during this pregnancy goodbye??? Some days I feel like I have less energy than I did during the first trimester. I am only 19 weeks. I wonder how I am going to feel at say 28 weeks or so. If we go out shopping or whatever I have to sit a lot. I can go out for an hour and feel like I have been out all day. At home, it takes me all day to get anything done b/c I just feel zapped of all energy. Guessing not sleeping well doesn't help any of this. I would really like to be able to sleep for more than two hours at a time during the night without having to get up to head to the bathroom. I read on some site that if you are up to much at night to cut out all liquids after 4pm....I don't think so. Not going to cut off water or whatever to my babies for that long. Anyone have any tips on gaining a bit of energy? I feel like I should be in the third trimester with how tired I am, with how big my stomach is, with how uncomfortable I am. Sigh...yep feeling sorry for myself today lol

It is funny you posted this-it was around 20weeks that I posted almost the same thing-and I am now 28 weeks and do not feel any better-I just took the advice of everyone on here and stopped trying to do so much. My deal was that, physically I could do it (clean the house and go shopping and go to the park with my daughter-but later that night and all of the next day I really paid for it.
So to answer your question-in my case no the energy doesnt come back-I have good days and bad days but for the most part my pace had to slow way down. I just had to face the fact that I couldnt do it all, and now I have to let things go-which if you knew me, is really hard to do.
Good luck-soon this will be all over and then we will have a new excuse for being so tired!

Oh I have slowed down to a turtle's pace lol All I have gotten done today is some dishes, a shower(which is so draining), and one load of laundry. It was hard at first to realize I shouldn't do everything. But now I have gotten a lot better about allowing my husband to help me with the house. That has been really hard on me but I know also when the boys do get here, I will still need his help and the help of others...we wont' talk about how much I don't want my mother in laws help, but know I will need it. Just so mad at her today...ok, off topic lol

I feel lazy for having no energy. Not like I am going to work every day, no children at home. But I know everyone handles pregnancy differently so I try not to get too frustrated with myself.

im 22 weeks and i would have to say for the most part of each day i do have energy. i have tried to stop drinking as much water after about 7 pm depending on when i am going t bed and it has helped the potty breaks in the middle of the night, i was going every 2 hrs but now im down to like 3x a night if i sleep for 8 or 9 hrs. i do have a sip of water when i get up to go potty though. i also realize that when i am going thru a growth spurt with my belly and im sure the boys i sleep alot more and feel like i cant eat as much then couple days later i have my energy back and can eat alot again. Dont get me wrong i have my days where i wake up at 8am and have to take a nap at 1200pm and i didnt do anything all morning. im not allowed to clean or pick up anymore unless its arms height because dr doesnt want me bending over but, i used to be able to clean my 2 story house in 2 days, a story a day lol...hope u get a lil more energy, try drinking the boost energy protein drinks they will help the babies grow as well as maybe give u a booster throughout ur day. my dr said i can drink them at any time will just help the progress of the twins

I think pregnancy is just an energy-sapping thing! But you should have your doctor test you for anemia too -- that can def. make you feel more tired! My blood was tested at the same time as my glucose test (I think it was 24 weeks for me).

Thank you Thank you Thank you for this post! I'm almost 19 weeks and feel like a total wimp. I don't have a regular job or kids, but I'm still so tired too! I spend most of my days sitting around thinking about how I should be cleaning or doing laundry or starting packing (We'll be moving next month if we can find a place soon..), but I'm just too tired. It's better for me than the first trimester was, but I was really hoping for a bit more energy this trimester. I know that being pregnant with twins is supposed to be exhausting, but I just feel so bad that my husband is having to do so much. Anyway, I just wanted to say that I can relate and that I find your posts very reassuring. Sorry I don't have any advice though..

I find that my energy level ebbs and flows, but yeah, I can't do nearly as much as I used to be able to do. Even during my first trimester, I was teaching as part of my graduate school assistantship, and sometimes it felt like teaching one class during a day was all I could do. Some days, I'll do a small task, lay down, do another small task, lay down, etc. all day long. Or pick one thing to do--like the grocery store--and not worry about other things getting done.

So, listen to your body, and try not to worry too much if you can't do everything you want to do. You're not being lazy--your body is doing a monumental task of knitting together two little lives.

I was going to suggest eating lots of protein, as well as small meals throughout the day, which may help your energy level, even if you're not anemic.

Around 20 weeks was when I started to poop out. I felt pretty good from about 16-20 weeks -- almost like a normal person except for the constant stuffing my face. If it's not anemia, it's probably just twin pregnancy -- growing two babies is a lot of work!

This post is awesome! I feel the same way. The shower is the worst. I put it off for almost all day because when I get out all I want to do is lay on the bed for an hour or so. Sometimes it's all I can do to get dressed! I just try to take it slow and do little things all day long. Or not. lol

It is always nice to know we are not alone. Why I am so happy to have found TS. I feel bad for my hubby too. I try not to ask him to do too much during the week as I know when he gets home he needs to relax too. Between asking for his help and being an emotional basketcase I feel so bad for him.....just had a break down in the grocery store becuase I couldn't decide on a snack....sigh.

Love protein....the babies can't seem to get enough beef lol I do tend to eat a lot of small meals, as I am always hunger but also I can't seem to fit a lot of food at once. I noticed the amount I can eat in one sitting has changed a lot.

I feel like I have quit eating lol but my doc is happy with my weight gain so not worrying about it too much :)

I think also when I had my two girls I was much younger, they are 10 and 13. I am a bit older now, and I think too that has some to do with it. Not too old, 33, but not 20 anymore lol

I hate it too. I try not to put it off for too long or I won't take one. Seems a number of us are all lacking energy. At least we are not all alone :)

I know how you feel!!! I work full time, it is draining! I usually have more energy in the morning, but some days are worse than others. Like today is really awful for me. My hubby helps out a lot, but I feel bad - I'm also one of those who likes to do everything herself!

Will you work up into you have the babies or will you stop at a certain time?

for me it got better late in the second tri. I even danced to two whole songs at my brother's wedding!!!! :D

Yesterday I found enough energy that I cleaned all three bathrooms, the kitchen (even cleaned the fronts of the cabinets, dishwasher, and oven), and the living room.

Today I had an "unplanned nap": I went upstairs to go to the bathroom, saw my bed, and sat down "just for a minute" and woke up two hours later.

So, in my experience, it comes back, then it goes again.

I think pregnancy especially twin pregnancy effect everyone differently, but I was exactly like you. I was completely out of energy by 20 weeks I would practically cry every morning I had to get up to go to work. I stopped working at 25 weeks. I wish I could tell you that your energy comes back but that wasn't the case for me. I just had to really start listening to my body and slow down when it told me to slow down. Take a break whenever you need to and enjoy the rest of your pregnancy! I know it's miserable at times so hang in there I promise it is all worth it in the end sister :)

Slowing down more and more each day. The babies aren't going to have it any other way :)
