Endearing Moment

Well, yesterday Cameron came down with what I thought was a stomach bug. Maybe it still is, but no diarrhea and only one vomit. Today he had a fever. Around dinner time, it spiked up to 102.4, and Cameron was not a happy little man to say the least! He didn't have the biggest appetite, but he did make his way through dinner. I didn't push him to eat, but he just ate at his own pace. He had been only having water and watered down apple juice all day. I don't have any Gatorade at this time, so it was the best I could do.

We went up to the office/loft where they usually play and settle down before bedtime and Cameron was a weepy mess. He just wanted to lay down or cuddle. Poor little man.

Here's the part that melted me to goo. First, I had let them have their pacifiers to help soothe Cameron (I didn't want Kiefer to feel left out and Cameron kept offering his own pacifier to Kiefer to make him happy). Kiefer went to each of their cribs and took out their loveys and gave Cameron his Tigger lovey (Cameron's lovey is a Tigger) while Kiefer kept his own Pooh lovey for himself. Kiefer is quite concerned about what's going on with Cameron. I sat on the floor with my legs straight out and rocked Cameron while he rested his head on my cheek like he likes to do for some reason. He came over and sat on one of my legs and started to rub Cameron's back gently. He also rubbed one of my arms in the same gentle and thoughtful way too. The look on his face was of complete concern for his brother. I told him thank you, but what I wanted to do was grab him and kiss him all over or just cry. He is such a thoughtful little man. He always has been especially when it comes to the happiness of his brother.

Of course, that endearing moment did have to come to an end when Kiefer decided he wanted in on the cuddling action, which meant he had to squeeze himself next to Cameron. Cameron gets pushed off cause Kiefer was being really insistent on getting his cuddles. Cameron took it well and just laid down next to his computer and and started to play on it and then put his head own on the lovey he was holding. So even though it was half an hour from when they'd normally go to bed at 9pm, it was obvious Cameron wanted to go to bed. I did check his temp again since I had given him his Tylenol a few minutes before. It went down to 101.2, so even though it's still high, it's down from before. I hope he sleeps ok.

That is so sweet! I love it when my guys are affectionate with each other. They love giving each other hugs, and say "thank you" when they get one, but it always turns into one grabbing the other by the neck and trying to give a slobbery kiss!

UPDATE** Last night, Cameron slept very well. He did get a little restless at around 12:15 so I went in there and WHOA did he heat up! I gave him some more Tylenol and laid him back down. He went right back to sleep. He woke up at 10:15am which is good. He was still burning up. I let his body regulate a little and took his temp. It was at 102.8! Poor guy. No wonder he was so fussy when he woke up. I gave him some Tylenol and called the doctors. They said because nothing else seems to be bugging him, it was best to bring him in in case of a bacterial infection.

They didn't take his temperature for some reason but weighed him. He weighs 29lbs! What a big boy! Anyhow. He was miserable. The doctor was very careful with him. He went slowly and tried to get Cameron to calm down, but it was a no go. Of course, the poor guy was at the doctor's during his nap time so he was extra cranky. Since he's got a history or being a healthy kid, has no signs of an ear infection or a sore throat, he got his blood taken. His body was reacting to a virus but no other signs. So even though he only threw up two days ago and has had no diarrhea, he's still on watch for the next 48 hours. The doctor felt he still is likely to have some diarrhea tomorrow or the next day so keep his fluid up. Poor guy . I just know he's not feeling well but there's not much we can do. If the Tylenol or Motrin stop working or he has a fever still on Sunday, then he needs to be seen again. How am I going to see a doctor on Sunday!!?? I'll have to call the nurse line and a doctor can come in if there's an emergency. I don't think it'll come to that, but we may have to skip out on our Sunday plans. :(

We had plans to go to a Disney show for kids on Sunday. The tickets were bought already. I REALLY hope Cameron feels better by then and Kiefer doesn't get sick. It should be something they'd enjoy, and they LOVE Mickey Mouse.
