We are still exhausted, but looking forward to day 3...it seems to be clicking with the kiddos, but we are not sure what life will look like after the initial three days. Hopefully tomorrow gives us more confidence in their progress as we will return to work next week and leave them in the care of our wonderful (pregnant) nanny. Will she be able to get them out of the house next week?? They are used to doing something several days a week whether it is a ride on the bus to the library, a playgroup at the community center, a trip to the zoo, etc. I am worried that we just made her last two months of working with us a lot more challenging. :( I would love words of wisdom from you experts!

And DH and I are so tired of the constant reminders to "let Mommy or Daddy know if you have to go pee-pee or poopie"...I think we say something to them at least every 2 minutes right now. Tomorrow we might consider reducing the frequency of reminders. I am afraid we are starting to sound crazy to the kids and I am making up words just so I have something new to say  I think I used the word "pooty" today?

Today we did a little more coloring, played with beans (thanks MommaJune!), made home-made playdough, read more books, and bounced between a lot of random, imaginary play with those 5 minute attention spans. My kids even had their first ice cream cone (topped with green sprinkles) and sucked down more juice than I want to think about. Anything to keep them hydrated and happy at this point :)

Our biggest challenge right now is pooping. I know it is probably the hardest thing for them to learn, so we are going to be patient. I think DD can tell that she has to go because she will run in and try at least 5 times before having a poop accident. We have been telling her that poop takes longer to come out and that it is okay to sit for a bit to wait for it. She was the first one to have a successful poop on the potty today, but it might have been coincidence? She got 3 M&Ms and a sticker for the poop and seemed very proud. After that, we cleaned up 2 more poop accidents.

    Officially tally for Day 2:

DS: 11 pees in the potty, 2 pee accidents, 2 half-accidents (a little pee came out before he made it in time), and 1 GIGANTIC poop accident (two days worth of poop in his underwear that then fell on the floor, the stool, the rug, my leg, my hand, DD's foot and the bathtub...don't ask...it was awful)
DD: 6 pees in the potty, 1 poop in the potty(!), 1 half-accident (not sure if she peed a little before she made it to the toilet?), and 4 poop accidents

Sounds like things are progressing well. We had issues with poop for a few weeks and it is still kinda ongoing for Kalia. She will hold it for days and end up constipated to the point that I have to give her a suppository. We are adding tons of fibre to her diet and fluids and it's helping. She has a couple good weeks and then will hold it for a couple days again, I guess it could be worse and she could be having accidents all the time. Jordyn poops just fine on the potty everyday, no issue.

I took the girls out of the house for the first time on Day 6. We went to Wal-Mart for an hour and I brought like 5 pairs of underwear and pants. They did fine and have never once had an accident out in public. I try and have them pee right before we leave and make sure I know where the bathroom is once we arrive and it's been fine.

You've survived the toughest part already, it just keeps getting easier!!!

P.S. Glad the beans were a hit, hope it didn't make too much of a mess. :)

On our first trip out at the end of week 1, my little potty trainer decided to tell me he had to pee in the middle of a crowded farmer's market. We ran to the nearest toilet and he made his pee in his first public toilet. It wasn't a problem at all. Poo took a couple of months in our house, but I think we finally have it now.
It sounds like you are doing fantastic. We only have one trained here, the other boy shows no interest at all.

Sounds like things are going well, good luck with tomorrow! As for getting out of the house, I would think it would be fine as long as she plans trips around places that have bathrooms or takes a potty in the car to use in an emergency maybe?
