Ok, Some embarrassing things have been happening to me postpartum and I want to know if this is normal

    1) Worst of all, I have peed the bed TWICE. Both times it was this week, so it is a very recent development. I didn't have a vaginal delivery, so I am wondering if it is sheer exhaustion. I haven't had daytime leaks or anything. Anyone else?

    2) Despite pumping breastmilk (and lots of it) I am not losing weight. I lost weight well when nursing my son, so I thought I would be a size 2 by now making milk for twins. Think again, sister. I weight the same as I did 3 weeks postpartum. I am wondering if my hormones are off or stress is causing me to hold on to weight. The hormone theory is based on my armpit hair being very sparse...maybe I am low on testosterone and this is why I am not losing weight? The stress theory...well, it doesn't take a genius to figure out where I came up with that one...

3)The top of my tummy was always pretty flat despite not being a skinny person. It was just my body type. Now the top of my belly pooches. How do I know if i am just one of those people whose stomach muscles separated during pregnancy?

    4)My hair looks like crap.

Anyway, it just sucks to be so tired and to feel bad about the way you look. I have tried fixing myself up, but nothing works when you're bigger than you'd like to be, lost your best body features, and your hair looks like a hot mess.

#1 I would ask your doc...2 babies do weird things to your bladder.

#2 Don't be so hard on yourself they are only 2 months old!!

#3 When you lay down, can you stick your fingers in between your stomach muscles? Again, refer to #2!

#4 Every time I have a baby, I swear I am going bald. It grows back.

You have actually gotten out of your jammies? LOL! You are doing better than I was! And my hair is STILL in some sort of bun thingy, even today! Hang in there momma, it will get better. :hug99:

They say it takes nine months for your belly to be at its utmost, give it 9 months to return to normal. Mine better hurry I only have 3 months to go. :rotflmbo:

That happened to me in the beginning, about a week or two postpartum. It has not happened since so I expect it was my body re-settling.

It was 4 or 5 months when I was fully back down to my pre-pregnancy weight. I am not skinny mini by any means as I could lose 10 pounds still.

My uterus took a very long time to go back down. It could possibly be your uterus is still swollen.

My hair still looks like crap. It fell out in chunks and the doctor said it all is a result of hormones.

It has been almost a year, and I have a ways to go. I am really struggling with losing the last 10-15 pounds of my baby weight and I exercise regularly. The problem? Food. I am so busy and worrying about my kids, my students, and my husband that when it comes to eating I stick the quickest thing in my mouth. As a result, it isn't usually very nutrious and full of carbs. I REALLLY want to lose the last 10 in the next 9 weeks so I can buy new clothes when I come back to the USA this summer! Wish me luck!!

My girls are 13.5 months old and I still have 2 more pounds of baby weight to get rid of. I'm stuck there it seems (well, maybe I need to eat a little better). The magical "if you breastfeed the weight will melt off" thing didn't work at all with me. In fact, I gained a total of 42 pounds, lost 20 of them by 2 weeks PP, then put 10 back on while BF'ing. Not until I stopped BF'ing at 6 months and started dieting did I lose anything. Then starting early this year I added very regular, cardio exercise, and got rid of all but those 2 pounds I'm fighting at this point.

It took hard work for me. I'm thinking that 16 weeks of bedrest messed with my metabolism though, so maybe it isn't this hard for everyone!

GL! Your babies are still so young, give it some time.

I have the bladder leaking issue too. My doc said its due to it getting "beat up" during pregnancy and delivery ( i had vaginal and c-section , so it really got beat up) My doc put me on Detrol to help it get back under control :) HTH

#1 -- I've had a bit of this too, and I had a c/s too. For me it happens if I sneeze or laugh suddenly. I think it's worse if you had a vaginal delivery, but even if not, as a PP said, things get all beat up and rearranged down there. But if you never had this problem before and it just started, I'd ask your doc to check you out, just to see what else might be going on.

#2 -- Don't be too hard on yourself -- it can take time. At 3 months postpartum I looked about 5 months pregnant. The weight finally came off around 8-9 months postpartum.

#3 -- Lie flat on your back and do a tiny situp, and see if you can feel a vertical gap just below your sternum.

#4 -- It grows back. I lost handfuls of hair from about 2-4 months postpartum, but it looks totally normal now.

:hug99: It does suck, but it gets better eventually -- physically and emotionally.

Regarding #3, I have a hernia, and I need surgery for it, so that could be a possibility, b/c at 6 months post-partum, I have a pretty flat tummy w/the exception of the upper part, where the hernia is (umbilical).

I had a c-section. I never actually lost bladder control, but it took a few months to get the sensation back that I needed to pee. It was scary, because when I finally felt like my bladder was full and I would go to the bathroom, it was REALLY full and I didn't have that normal full bladder sensation, KWIM? I remember saying something to DH during that time like "wow, I'm surprised that I didn't pee my pants!".

    2) Despite pumping breastmilk (and lots of it) I am not losing weight. I lost weight well when nursing my son, so I thought I would be a size 2 by now making milk for twins. Think again, sister. After 3 weeks, I didn't lose one more pound until I started a weight loss plan when they were 6 months old. Not ONE pound. I was still wearing maternity clothes because I refused to buy clothes in a bigger size - much bigger size.

3)The top of my tummy was always pretty flat despite not being a skinny person. It was just my body type. Now the top of my belly pooches. How do I know if i am just one of those people whose stomach muscles separated during pregnancy?

I am wondering the same thing. I always had a flat belly. It's not horrible when I'm dressed, but it's definitely icky, IMO. I always play with it and show DH how far I can pull it out. When I push it together, the skin is really wrinkly. DD was breech and sitting pretty low. Towards the end of pregnancy, the area around my belly button was really tender - almost felt like burning. That's where the skin looks the worst. It's droopier on the right side than the left and that right side is where most of the pain was.

    4)My hair looks like crap.

Girl - go get it done! It's spring, too and that's always a weird time for hair.

Anyway, it just sucks to be so tired and to feel bad about the way you look. I have tried fixing myself up, but nothing works when you're bigger than you'd like to be, lost your best body features, and your hair looks like a hot mess.

Go look at those babies. Despite how you feel, you did it for them.
    :)
