Ok, so I have been on bedrest for about 16 days now, and have noticed my genital area has become swollen and sore. It hurts when I walk- I can actually feel a "muscle" pull on the outside of the pelvic/genital region, and it hurts to sit sometimes. I am only 30 weeks along- is this normal? Has it happened to anyone else? I meant to mention it to my doctor at the last visit- but was so preoccupied with bedrest issues and other questions- I forgot to say something.....

Mine was the same and I was also on bedrest, not sure if that had anything to do with it or if it was just part of being prego with twins. But I know the exact 'pull' you mean. Sorry to say it took a while after for that pain to go away, I still get it on occasion.

I am so glad you asked this question. I have been wondering about this also. My dr. never said anything when they did the exam the other day. I guess it is just normal. It is really uncomfortable at times. It feels very strange.

    Yup,

Me too! Dr. told me it is because of all the pressure/weight from the twin pregnancy.

That is totally normal. It will return to its normal state after you deliver them. You will be amazed at how much it will shrink after delivery.

I asked my Mom about this because when I discovered it, I was kind of freaked out. She told me it was normal and when I went to the doctor yesterday, I asked about the pressure and pain down there and she said it is the pressure of a twin pregnancy plus baby a is literally sitting on my cervix.

I have it too...it's the absolute worse feeling. Plus I don't know if y'all have this but I feel like my pubic bone is about to be split in 2. At my last u/s even though the tech was doing an abdominal u/s to get a good look she was practically doing a transvaginal the baby was so low.

My sister just had a baby in October and so much of her pregnancy she was painfully swollen.

I agree with PP that its normal....I had it to, and it began to go away after delivery. Good luck!

The swelling is definitely nutty, huh? I read that it's because of the increased blood volume. I don't know about the pain though, although it's common for certain areas with excessive blood flow to ache. Isn't it just lovely?

Okay, here is some comic relief! In Jenny McCarthy's book on pregnancy (and she had a singleton!) she called her 'area' ......."the swollen blue taco"!!! I thought that was funny, mainly because I have been TOO embarrassed to ask anyone or talk about it! So when I heard that comment, I knew it was normal.

Ahhhh, the glamorous side of a twin pregnancy, huh!?

If you liked that one be sure to read the next one, it is about the delivery and first year of his life. I read it in a day at the beach while I was pregnant and was screaming I was laughing so hard!
