Electric shock feeling in belly

I'm 13 weeks pregnant with twins (as of this past Sun). On Thanksgiving afternoon I felt a very strong electric shock feeling right in the center of my belly. It was so strong that I screamed out. I just experienced it again, although milder, on my left side. I don't remember experiencing anything like this when I was pregnant with our daughter. Is this common for twin pregnancies? Could I already be feeling them move?

 

I don't really know what it is from, but I had the same thing happen with my last pregnancy (singleton). For me, it happened late in my second trimester and it felt exactly as you describe it.... like an electrical shock in the belly. It happened for about 2-3 days then it was gone. I have experienced round ligament pain and it felt nothing like that. It is a very strange and sometimes painful sensation. Like I said, I don't really know what it was and I never mentioned it to my doctor but I continued to have a healthy and uneventful pregnancy. Congratulations on your twins!!!

P.S. One thing I just thought of... are you (were you) on any kind of hormone treatment? I was receiving hormone injections when I felt those sensations. I wonder if it could be related.

 

Hmm, I did actually! I have to take progesterone during my 1st trimesters to help sustain the pregnancies. Thanks for the feedback!

 

AH, VERY INTERESTING!!! I started getting progesterone injections to prevent preterm labor at 22 weeks which would explain why I got the pains later in the pregnancy and you got yours early on. I guess it still could be unrelated, but we're making new discoveries here on Twinstuff!!!!!

 

I am not sure about the electric shock thing, but I started feeling movement with my twins at 13 weeks, so it's possible you are starting to feel movement also. Congratulations for your twins. Welcome to Twinstuff, I hope you like it.

 

:welcome: to TS! I didn't experience that but was having some pretty random pains around that time, I was just told not to over do it. I wonder if y'all are on to something with the shots though.
