We were referred to EI by our pediatrician at our 15mo appt because the boys weren't really talking. The pediatrician wasn't too concerned because they are boys, and twins, but thought it couldn't hurt to have them evaluated just to make sure there wasn't something else going in. In the week or so between the pedi appt and the intake appt one of the boys learned 3 new words. Then in the week and a half between the intake and the assesement they are totally different children - little talking fiends. Not only were they saying all kinds of new words they even repeated a new one they learned from one of the therapists. Needless to say I felt a little silly, but I am so excited for words!!! At least for now... I might have a different answer in a couple of months. :)

Overall they did really awesome. They were rated 1 month behind in speech, but they scored 19+ months in all the other categories (4 months ahead) with one even scoring at a 24 month level in one category and 29 months in another. I feel really relieved. Now if I could just get them to say "Mama...."

 Sounds like they are doing great!! Being one month behind in speech isn't bad at all. :good: I'm glad they are talking for you... and hopefully they start saying Momma! :girl_devil:

:clapping: Don't feel silly... you are certainly not the first mom this has happened to.

    That's great news!!!!!!!

BTW...I didn't hear mama until they were 18 months old (they could say a few other words...daddy, ball, puppy, etc, but no mama until then...now it's ALL I hear).

Good news! If nothing else you got a free evaluation of their skills and some reassurance that they're doing great!
