I am sure this has been asked a million times before, but when are you allowed to give your babies eggs?
    Thanks for your response!!

From what I have heard you can give egg yolks after 8 months or so but avoid the whites until about a year because they are a high risk allergen.

That's what our pedi told us, too.

Our ped said avoid the whites for TWO years. But the practice we see specializes in pediatric allergy, so no whites, peanut, tree nut, and I can't even forget what else, till age two. There's no way we'll be able to wait that long for everything. I want to transition my babies to table food at 12 months.

Arrr, most pedis say they can start on eggs when they be 10 months old, but some advise to wait until they be 1. It never hurts to call yer pedi and see what his or her thoughts may be.

We gave our boys scrambled egg yolk at 9mo, and Owen had a pretty severe allergic reaction (hives, vomiting, etc.). I was pretty surprised since neither dh or I have any allergies whatsoever. Talked to the pedi, and I guess a lot of kids under 1yr have reactions to egg, and most grow out of it. We're not giving either of them egg now until 18mo.

If I'd known better, I would have waited until at least a year.
