Am I the only one that sort of likes eggnog? I'm happy to see it every year, but I have to "water" it down 50/50 with milk and I maybe drink 5 glasses during December. My kids on the other hand are total eggnog fiends. Then we have my mom who would rather poke out her eye than drink it.

I cannot understand eggnog at all. Just looking at it sliding and plopping out of the carton makes me gag a little. My children love it like it's the next mommy's milk and my DH will drink it by the gallon.

I really like eggnog, but a little bit goes a long way. Like I'm okay only drinking 2-3 small cups per year, but I really enjoy those 2-3 cups. :) Booze is just the icing on the cake.

My boys tried eggnog for the first time this year. Jack is lukewarm about it, but Nate likes it pretty well. Then again, I didn't give them any with booze in it. :p

I like eggnog but it has to be the light eggnog. My dh HATES it... My oldest ds loves it more then I do and will drink a glass for dessert every night until it's gone.
So I had the twins try it just the other night. Jake took one sip and said "eww YUCK, that's Yucky momma ewwww". It was really funny! Aly on the other hand LOVED it and shared the rest with me :)

I like a glass at Christmas, but I could take it or leave it. I think kids probably like it because it's loaded with fat and sugar.

They have eggnog lattes at starbucks and those are disgusting.

This is the only eggnog that I like. DH makes it every Christmas.

    1 Doz Eggs
    3 oz dk rum
    1/2 qt bourbon
    2 cups sugar
    2 quarts milk
    1 pt whipping cream
    Cinnamon and freshly grated nutmeg

Beat egg yolks to lt yellow, add bourbon and rum slowly beating mixture constantly. Add sugar then milk. Move to separate bowl. Clean mixer bowl. Whip whipping cream and fold in to other mixture slowly. Clean mixer bowl. Very stiffly beat egg whites and fold them into the other mixture very slowly. Top with a sprinkle of cinnamon and fresh nutmeg. Makes 12 servings, and is still great a day later even when the cream and egg whites have blended in more.

Note, I've already halved the alcohol content originally recommended. Great for parties and family Christmas where everyone gathers.

We are HUGE boiled custard drinkers instead of eggnog. I look forward to my mom's custard every year. I believe it is fairly close to eggnog, but I'm not exactly sure what the difference is except it doesn't have any sort of alcohol in it.

Ugh, I totally agree. It really disgusts me, but my husband really likes it if it is the light variety & contains rum. The kids won't touch it.

I love Starbucks eggnog lattes! This discussion may get heated. :)

My mom's eggnog is the best. It seems lighter than the kind you buy. I do enjoy a glass or two a year.

DH is a total eggnog fiend...his favorite is the Land of Lakes Brand. I like eggnog but I don't need it have it every holiday season. It's good enough for me, as a 1 time a year treat.

finally seeing eggnog for sale again = :woo:

love the stuff! i'll drink it straight, with rum, with coke (apparently this is weird, but my family's always mixed coke & eggnog - it's really good), upside down, in a house, with a mouse...well, you get the idea. :D

I think it's totally gross but my husband LOVES it. He drinks it non-stop this time of year, then he will get sad and pouty when he can't find it in the store anymore. He usually puts a variety of liquors in it, but I think Bailey's is his favorite.

Wawa has a spiced pumpkin eggnog that he loves.

I love, love, love eggnog (especially with rum) but alas cannot have it. BUT, I have found something I love even better: Silk Soy Nog!!!!!! It is DELICIOUS! Sprinkle a little nutmeg on it and have with my cranberry-walnut-laced oatmeal for breakfast. Amazing. Love, love, love it!

For those of you who like eggnog, have I got something for you. My parents make eggnog FUDGE! Its only available during the holidays, and is AMAZING!!! Almost as good as the pumpkin fudge they make.

For me other than the above mentioned FUDGE!!!, I like a little bit of eggnog, not too thin, but definately not too thick. I can wait for holidays for it, but my grandmother used to make some good eggnog and she left me her recipe, so if I get a hankerin' for it, I can make my own.

LOVE it! I prefer Hood Light Eggnog, but will drink others in small doses. I used to make eggnog mudslides. Eggnog, vanilla ice cream, (rum eta: actually, I think it was kahlua) and baileys in a blender. Yummmm!! :drinks:

    :woah:

 I was thinking the same. I love SBENL's!! :D

I love it too! My dh and I can't wait until they start selling it in the stores each year. We have to cut each other off because we can't stop drinking it.

I would love to hear about the eggnog pancake recipe!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eggnog It's about the texture of drinkable yogurt, but it tastes creamy with a slight hint of cinnamon and nutmeg.

On a culinary note my kids love eggnog french toast. You can either give the bread a quick dunk in some eggnog before dipping it in the egg mixture and frying, or just add eggnog to the eggs dipping mixture. (But cook it at a lower temp or the sugar will burn) Or both if you must. ;) The kids and I think it tastes pretty yummy that way.

LOVE eggnog!! My grandma used to make awesome eggnog before she passed away. She always went heavy with the alcohol too :D Right now, I drink Lactaid Eggnog and it is SOOOO yummy. I've never seen eggnog slide and plop like mentioned above. That sounds gross. Molly, eggnog fudge sounds Heavenly!

Re: eggnog lattes... I worked at starbucks the year they came out and they didn't really specify at first that you couldn't heat the eggnog up to the same temperature as the regular milk.. after you've tasted burned eggnog you just never really want to go there again.
