Is there a good lotion that I can use on my 3-yr old for his eczema? He has it really bad on his legs, especially in the winter. I'm also going to use it on my babies to prevent them from getting it. I've been using baby Aveeno for eczema. It does alright, but I'm wanting to try something different. Dermatologist can't get him in for a few weeks.

Once upon a time someone told me to have him drink 1tsp of Udo's oil daily to clear it up. Has anyone tried this?

My 19 month old DS has eczema and we use Vaseline Advanced Healing lotion on him. I've tried the Aveeno and other things, they don't do anything for him. In the winter time though nothing did much good because the air is so dry. I've never heard of trying the Udo's oil, you will have to let me know if you try it and it works.

I use the Eucerine (?) thick cream on my babies and it seems to work great! Our pedi told me to smother them in it before they go to bed too not just when they get out of the bath.

we like eucerin........and the walgreen's generic eucerin works well, too.......the twins and my 8 yo all have eczema, and all seem to respond well to eucerin............good luck.

My Ped recommends Eucerine several times per day, bath and before bed. If it gets really bad, he said to use Aquaphor - it's really thick but really helps the bad spots.

Please check with your pedi first to see if this is ok, but when I was young, I had eczema and my parents gave me baths with Epsom salt in addition to a lotion treatment afterward for a few nights and it cleared it up. HTH.

We are huge Aquaphor fans here...we bathe with the Johnson's lotion body wash (love it...for them and me!!) then coat the affected areas (their legs and elbows, and with David, cheeks)with Aquaphor and cover with jammies. I find that it works best with the "tight fitting" pjs (like Disney's cotton ones, etc.) instead of the fleece ones. After 2-3 nights of this and spot lotion (just the pink Johnson's stuff) as needed during the day we're good to go!

My kids are all eczema children and I have tried it all. I had some success with eucerin cream, little with aqaufor, but what works best for me is something called vanicream. You have to get it behind the counter at the pharmacy but it is non prescription. It is incredibly safe (I use it on the babies as well) and the most productive thing I've found.

we also use aquaphor here and when Isaac's was really bad our pediatrician said that we could use .5% hydracoritsone cream. we used it once or twice and it really seemed to work well. aquaphor usually does the trick for us though!

Yes! Yes! Yes! My sister gave me some of this vanicream last week and it really does help. One thing I noticed though as 3 of my kids have eczema, is that I can no longer use dryer sheets, I had to change my detergent to All free and clear (anything free will do), and the pedi told me where some only have to wash new clothes once before baby wears them...I will now have to wash twice, maybe even three times because they use a really strong chemical in clothing these days to keep them looking bright. Just FYI cuz I didn't know that until a couple weeks ago when I bought them new clothes and one of my twins' eczema became infected...ick!
