Are our girls too young to be eating people food? They won't eat baby food anymore! In fact, they won't eat anything that they can't pick up with their fingers and put in their mouths. They definitely won't take anything from us. This happened literally overnight. One day they ate their stage 2 and 3 foods and the next they wouldn't take a thing.

We've been giving them chopped up fruit and peas and shredded chicken. They'll eat some of the gerber graduates stuff. They're working on their 7th tooth so they just munch away. Are they too young for this?

I don't think so. We started giving ours mostly table food at that point, they didn't really like baby food either. One of their favorites was (and still is) scrambled eggs. I think if you cut the pieces up small enough they'd be fine.

By 9 months mine were also on all table foods. They also refused to eat babyfood, if they couldn't pick it up it wasn't going in their mouths :). Now as long as they have food to pick up I can slip them something off a spoon. Very independant :).

At our 9mo. ped. appt. our Dr. suggested that they be on mostly table food. We are making the transitition now. They are trying to get used to the new textures. The only things she said to avoid was honey, shellfish, peanuts and egg whites. I worry that I will not know how much they are eating (trying to take into account how much they drop on the floor :p ).

Not too young!! Mine have been eating table foods for a month now. I still sneak in a bite of baby food here and there, but it's getting harder to get one in.

I have never used baby food save rice cereal, and our ped and my mother have all said that in the long run it is best for everyone if they eat what you are eating. With the exception of the obviour foods and seasonings...however, my mother swears that I wouldn't eat the things she ate unless they were flavored with garlic like hers...???? :umm:

p.s. my mom is a Dr. and a Midwife...

At our 9 month appt. yesterday, the ped. suggested that we move them to table food as quickly as possible. I guess I need to finish up the jars of baby food in the cabinet. I don't think it's too early for yours.

first of all, your girls are so cute!! Mine did the same(and one only has one tooth and the other does not have any yet!! ) I'm using up the gerber fruit by spreading it on waffles and mixing it in with yogurt

When my four year old was the age of your girls she hit the "I will only eat what you eat. If it isn't on your plate I am not going to touch it." What I tell my clients with babies your age is this - if they aren't going to choke on it than they can eat it (with the exception of honey and egg whites). The should be ok with table food.
