my twins have been eating 5-7 oz for the past 2 weeks and about every 3-5 hours is that to much? My co worker said her 10 month old Grand daughter is just now eating 6 oz

My ds started eating 5oz early on too. He is now eating 5-7 oz every 3-4 hours. My dd eats 4-5 oz per feeding now. They'll eat what they need. He may be going through a growth spurt too.

Sounds good to me. If they are not having lots of spit up and seem to be tolerating it fine I would think that's what they need. I am of the camp that babies dont overeat-they take what they need. It may slow down to if they are just having a growth spurt. How many ounces total per day?

ETA: 5 hours between feeds is a long time-is that during the night?

Doesn't sound unusual at all to me. Mine were eating 5oz every 2 1/2 to 3 hours at 8 weeks during the day and going 6-9 hours at night. I agree with a pp - babies will eat what they want and then they will either refuse to eat more or they spit up the excess. If they are hungry and want to eat that much I would give it to them.

They may go up to 5 hours during the day if they are sleeping but they are getting pretty good at sleeping through the night.....DD goes down around 9:30-10:00 PM and will sleep til around 4-5 Am DS will wake up around 1:00AM and I'll roll him over and he goes back to sleep til about 4:00 am then he wakes up to eat. They eat about 35-40 oz in a 24 hour period.

That sounds awesome to me. :good: I would have killed for my kids to sleep like that at that age. :)

Ours are close in age.....mine eat 4-5 oz every 3 hours unless they are sleeping (usually 5 hrs at night). I do think they eat as much as they are supposed to. I'm just pained when one wants another oz and I just make 4 oz bottles. So I have to get up and mix up a 1oz bottle or have a bottle made to steal from. It's like they need to be "topped off" LOL

Mine were only eating 3-4 oz every 3 hours at that age. They didn't go up to 5 oz till 3 months and now they are at 6-7 oz every 4 hours. But they will eat what they eat, don't worry about it.

My DS was eating that much and my DD never ate more than 4 oz at a time. It all depends on the baby! :)
