Here lately, I have not been nearly as hungry as in the earlier points of my pregnancy. I have slowed down on eating and I am worried about getting enough in for the babies. My hubby is also worried as he has noticed I cannot finish dinner most of the time.

Will my body tell me if I am not getting enough? I have an appt. tomorrow and I will ask about it then.

Has anyone else experienced ups and down with appetite and/or getting full faster?

I can tell you, I personally only eat till I’m full, which sometimes is only a few bites. I eat very healthy, whole and organic foods with a lot of fruits and veggies. I try to up my protein. But I never eat a full meal; I’m not all that hungry to begin with. In the morning when I wake up is usually the only time I feel hungry. But I eat a small snack in the mid-morning, then lunch, another snack and Dinner. To-date I have only gained 9lbs. ( I lost 33lbs my first trimester, so I haven’t actually gained any weight) But as long as I take my prenatal & iron and eat healthy, then I’m fine. My babies were measuring large on my last ultrasound, so the doctors know they are getting enough.

For the first time in my life, I am not finishing my meals. I just feel that as long as I am full - they are too. I just went to the store and spent $65 on fruits and veggies.. I am so glad that is what I am craving, I know it is healthy.

However, i am still gaining and I could certainly stand to lose a few lbs. I am just hoping that it will come off faster after delivery. I have a LONG way to go!

I was concerned about that as well when I was pregnant with my twins. I was actually losing weight and only gained 19 pounds the WHOLE pregnancy. My boys were healthy. My doctor said that they get everything first! So, if it IS going to effect anyone it will effect you, because your babies get all they need first.

During my first trimester I ate pretty well, during my second I ate like a horse, I couldn't get enough. It seemed like all of a sudden as I got to the start of my third I just couldn't eat much. Same as you, I couldn't finish a meal. I don't think that you need to be concerned about it. I was in the hospital on bedrest for the last 4 weeks of my pregnancy (weeks 30-34) and hardly ate anything except dinner. I did not like the hospital food, but my DH brought in dinner for me from the outside every night. :)

I've lost 12.5 lbs to far and have absolutely no appetite. Fortunately, everything I do eat (and actually keep down, which is a whole other issue) seems to go to the babies. My OBGYN has told me she's not concerned with my weight loss as long as the babies are progressing. It's just important that you make what you do eat count.
