My twins are 4 month old and weigh about 12 lbs.
How much should they eat in a day or feeding and how many hours can they realy go without eating?
I bottle feed only. Any ideas or experience?

The formula chart given to me by my Ped says, "17-32 ounces per day." Mine were on the higher end always of the intake scale but rarely went more than 2 hours in between feedings.

17-32oz a day for 4 months? I'm kinda glad to know that! What is the age on that...its usually like 17-32oz for 3-4months or something like that. Thanks!

Anyway, my babies are a little over 4 months. My dd has some bad reflux and will only eat while sleeping and she averages about 16oz a day, which compared to my ds (25-35oz a day) isnt too great. But maybe I'm just over reacting. We just had their 4 month check up and dd is 12lbs 3oz and ds 13lbs 4oz. Ds sleeps from 8-4, sometimes 8-7. Dd sleeps from 8-7...but we feed her twice during these hours (10pm and 3am) so that she can get an extra bottle in, and like I said she sleeps through these feedings.
During the day they are fed every 3-4hrs.

Mine were eating 25-28 oz. at 4 months, and going 3 hours between feeds and sleeping through the night.

My twins take about 30 ounces a day and usually go 3 to 5 hours between feedings. The pedi mentioned last week that they should be going 5 hours between feedings more often. we give they boys their nighttime bottles about 9, 9:30 and Luke usually wakes up at 7am and Jackson at 8am. We are very lucky! They catnap during the day.

My little ones go 4 hrs between feeds most of the day, 730 am, 1130 am, 330 am and we start bedtime around 615/ feed 630. Our daughter gets one feed at night and our son, he doesn't eat at night anymore. They worked their way to 4 hrs mostly on their own really- at about 2-3 months, and for us it has lead to a much better routine as their nap time is longer. I get them out of the cribs at 715, feed 730 and by 830 or so, time for nap. On good days, they sleep to 11, then feed at 1130 and generally back down by 1. This nap is shorter, until usually 3 or so. Then feed at 330 and another short nap (they have never been good at this third one) at 5-545. Then we start bedtime 30 min after they wake up from that at 615. They are in their cribs most days for night by 7 pm. I still feed anywhere from 2 am-4 am for her one time a night, I found I got my best sleep from 9 pm on so she dropped the 10 pm feed first and we've kept the middle of the night one. Perhaps that is the wrong way to do it when it comes time to drop this last one, but its working for us both for now. I know some say they should only go 3 hrs during the day....mine are breastfed, go 4 hrs and weight gain is good with drs.

Mine were eating every 1.5 hrs until they were 4.5 months old. Total daily intake was between 40-50 oz/day. Now they are on a 2 hr schedule and finish about 35-45 oz/day plus cereal/oatmeal twice a day. Someone had mentioned that you times their weight by 2.5 and that's how much they should finish? I'm not completely sure..

mine are 4.5 months actual, 3 months adjusted. we exclusively bottle feed. they both have severe reflux which makes them a little resistant to eating. jacob is 12 lbs, owen is 11 (our home scale isn't more accurate than that). they have recently let us know that they're more comfortable eating every 3.5 to 4 hours instead of the 3 they've been doing up until now. bedtime is at 7:00 and they sleep until around 2 a.m. they have a small bottle and then back down until around 6. their daily totals are in the neighborhood of 19-21 oz but our days do vary depending on how bad their reflux is on any given occasion.

I'm so glad to see this range because I've been concerned that my guys aren't eating enough. My boys are bottle fed breastmilk. I pump on average 50 ounces a day and only a few times a week we have to supplement with formula because they need more. Every so often I freeze a few ounces because it is leftover at the end of the day. So, they probably eat between 20 and 28 ounces a day. In the past week we have started to develop more of a feeding schedule. They have been eating every 3-4 hours during the day (usually 9am, 12pm, 3:30pm or 4pm, 7pm or 7:30pm). They take anywhere from 3 to 5 ounces at a feeding. Sometimes they do 6 to 7 ounces before bed at the 7pm feeding. The both have about 4 ounces once during the night around 1-2am and then will take another ounce or two in the early morning. They nap from 9:30am to 12ish and 2ish to 3:30ish. BTW, my boys are about 11.5 and 13 pounds.

The age range for that is 0-4 months. The next age range is 4-6 months and that is "26-40 ounces." It an old chart but I think a good guideline. Talk to your Ped if you concerned.

BTW i read in the american academy of pediatrics "your baby's first year" book that 15 oz is considered the minimum intake for an 11 lb baby to stay properly hydrated. i found that to be a useful guideline since my guys can be very light eaters some days.

Mine are almost 5 months old, 4 months adjusted and they eat every four hours between 6 and 8 ounces so the minimum they get with those 4 bottles is 24 but usually it is more like 30 ounces since a couple are 8 and a couple 7. They do get oatmeal once a day but I usually fix one bowl and they split it, so not much of that yet. They also still take a bottle in the middle of the night of about 4-5 ounces (this one is around midnight) - they sleep from 7:30 until midnight and then 12:30 until 6:30 usually.
