Does anyone have any ideas for getting a 10 month old to sleep in later? My son is up by 5 am at the latest every morning. Today it was 4 am. He is not one of those babies that will wake up and babble and play in his crib. He immediately starts crying, and it intensifies quickly. He will not settle if I just leave him. As soon as I get him out of bed, he's happy as a clam. He doesn't even mind not eating right away. I would be thrilled to death if he would sleep until even just 5:30 or 6. He goes to bed at 6:30 and sleeps all night. I cannot keep him up any later than that or it's overtired meltdown mode time. Help?! Or am I just screwed for now?

If he's sleeping from 6.30 until 5 in the morning, or even 4, then he is getting close to 10 or 11 hours sleep, which seems pretty good. Is there any way that you can tweak his naps a little so that he can go to bed half an hour or an hour later?

I agree, my twins only sleep for about ten-eleven hours every night as well. So if he's going to bed at 630pm then he should be waking up around that time. I think I would try to go one day with a super fussy baby... like wait until he's falling asleep in your arms for their naps, and then put them down for naps, and hopefully he'll stay up later. Even if he has a cat nap 30 min nap around 6, wake him back up for 1 or 2 hours of play time, and then get them to go to bed around 7 or 8, which is my babies schedule... sometimes they even go to bed at 9, and they usually sleep from 8pm-9am. Hope this helps!

We had the same issue. We got up at 5am from about 9-12 months and then they both just kind of matured into sleeping until 6 ish.

We our 11 months and go to bed between 7-8pm depending on them.
We get up between 630-730am each day.
1st nap of the day around 845-930a
    2nd nap around 1-2pm.

Hows your schedule? I agree that perhaps a 3rd catnap might help you make an adjustment. You could also try pushing everything back 15 minutes and everyfew days push it back another 15 minutes until you get where you want to be.

This may just be a phase . Is there anyway his last nap can be later in the day?

    oran is the same.
we put them both down at 6.30, brook sleeps til 7 but oran wakes, anywhere between 4 and 6. he is also very stubborn and cries until picked up - then very cute!!!!
we were very strict and did not go to him unless it was 6 or after. he does cry for a couple of minutes now if he wakes earlier but he has 'got with the program' took a while though. luckily all my other boys (and dh!) sleep soundly through it!!!
when i get him at 6 i nurse him for a bit, he has a play and a little natter in the middle between dh and i, then i nurse again and he dozes off again til we all wake up about 7.
not sure any of that will help but sending you lots of sympathy and sleep vibes. i have gotten into going to bed earlier and earlier- some nights its hard to stay up til 9!

Ok I was going to ask about when they are supposed to sleep 12 hours at night. Mine usually sleep 11 hours and I don't like getting up at 6:30am I guess it's not that uncommon to only sleep 10 to 11 hours. If my boys wake up before 6am they are not allowed to stay up. I do whatever it takes to get them back to sleep.
