    Hello everybody!
I'm really REALLY new to all of this.. This is my 2nd time conceiving... the first ended in miscarriage at 10 weeks... and my 2nd now I'm 6 weeks pregnant with twins. I actually just found out today.. but something on the ultrasound kinda worried me... and i was wondering if maybe there are other mothers out there with the same experience as mine that turned out successful... anyway... one of the babies ( or embrios at this point ) looked great... which is great news... but the other.. is not even half the size of the other... and i know its still very VERY early... but the smaller one didn't have a visable heartbeat yet.. which scares me quite a bit.. givin the fact it took me 4 years to conceive the first time only to end up in failure... and this time...took me another year and a half to conceive these.. now already a problem... the OBGYN said he was "cautiously" optomistic... but ive already had break through bleeding 3 times... and some cramping... i was wondering... has any of your ultrasounds had a big size difference and yet turned out successful?

At 6 weeks mine just looked like sacks with a yolk sack in them. We couldn't even see the embryos. At 7 weeks we could see little babies, but couldn't get heartbeats. It wasn't until 8 weeks we could get heartbeats. Mine have pretty much always looked the same, but we couldn't get any heartbeats for another two weeks. Good luck to you and your babies!!

We had an ultrasound at 10 weeks due to bleeding (apparently my cervix was very sensitive back in the day) and one of the interesting things about it was that Baby A was clearly visible; discernible, while Baby B was a fuzzy blob. Initially I thought he was an ovary! (Before the tech said twins, I thought, oh, an ovary. Nice. :D ) Baby B implanted higher in my uterus and was charted as 4 days younger, which made it difficult to see him on vaginal ultrasound and less mature by nature (4 days is a lot in the beginning!) He was a blob for a long time and to this day we don't have a good pic of him. Apparently he is shy!

    Best of luck,

    Michelle

    Welcome & congrats!!!!
I had an FET with 4 frosties & 2 took. At the 6 week u/s they
just looked like blobs, at the 8 week u/s they both had a heartbeat
but baby b was 3 or 4 days behind baby a.
    At the 10 week u/ s baby b was 2 days behind & yesterday i had a 16week
u/s & the both weigh 5 oz and are 4" long.
Try not to worry- i also had a m/c last year at 8 weeks so I know what worry
is! 6 weeks is very early & a lot will happen in the next few weeks!
Good luck - have you got m/s yet?

This sounds very much like what I went through. I had an IUI and at the 6 week ultrasound we found: 1 heartbeat & baby measuring on target; no heartbeat on 2nd & measuring 1 week behind; 3rd sac looked empty. By 7 weeks we found 2 heartbeats but Baby B was still measuring 1 week behind. We're now at week 9 and both have strong heartbeats and Baby B continues to stay 1 week behind but is growing appropriately between weeks. So far I consider this a success and my hope grows with each passing ultrasound.

I'm told that Baby B could catch up but that it could really go either way. As for the bleeding, I've had some of that as well. I didn't have any with my first child so this really freaked me out. The Dr. said that it could be from my cervix or there may be some minor bleeding from the uterus which is getting out. He said that this was more common in a pregnancy with multiples. The cramping is pretty normal as well. I had pretty bad cramping with my previous pregnancy and with this one as well.

There's still reason to be optimistic so try and stay positive as hard as that may be. I'll be sending some prayers your way.

At 5 weeks we had one baby with a heart beginning to form, and an empty sac. At 6 weeks the baby's heart was beating well, and the empty sac was not seen anymore. At 8 weeks suddenly we had triplets! All with strong heartbeats, although one was smaller than the other two (13mm vs 18mm). At 9 weeks we were back to twins -- they're now 19 weeks and everything is developing well. (A vanishing twin or triplet in the early weeks does not endanger the other baby.) So things can change fast this early -- I think you've got a good chance of having at least one and quite possibly two healthy babies!
