I've tried every trick I've heard of but I can't get my boys to sleep in past 5AM or so. I've tried nursing them and putting them right back down but they just scream like crazy, more than a night-time waking. Same if I just leave them in their cribs past 5AM. I've tried putting them to bed later, but they melt down around 5-5:30PM no matter how many naps they've had. HSHHC recommends putting a kid to bed earlier if they won't sleep in until 7AM, but how much earlier than 5PM can we go? I've tried to go to bed early myself, shift my own clock, but I can't seem to fall asleep before 10pm and with multiple night wakings (even with modified CIO of letting them cry for an hour before getting up) I don't get much sleep. Any suggestions?

Nothing worked for me either. I could not get my girls to sleep past 5:30 am for the entire first year. The good news is that once they get a little bit older they might start sleeping a little later. Around 18 months or so mine started to sleep until between 6 and 7, and that's still where we are today.

Sorry I don't have more advice, nothing worked for me. I put them to bed 12 hours after they woke up.

This happens to us sometimes. I take them into bed and nurse there lying down and then usually they will either drift off or lie there next to me nicely. One of my sons needs to snuggle from around 5am almost every morning and will usually sleep another 1-2 hours.

My boys are doing a similar thing - they start making noise around 5am - usually someone poops around 5:30 so we are all up at 6am. I have tried putting them to bed earlier ( they go at 6:30pm) but it doesn't help so I have resigned to getting up that early (although definitely not as early as you) I make myself go to bed early and hope this phase passes soon!! If you find anything that works I would love to hear about it!!

When my little ones wake before 6am, I will move them from their cribs to swings with paci's...that usually helps them fall back asleep till like 6;30/7am.

    I hate that too!

Mine wake between 5 a.m. and 6 a.m. Unless they are hysterical, I do not go to them until 6 a.m. I just decided that I don't want to start my day before then. They go to bed around 6:15 p.m. I've tried rushing to them and trying to soothe them back to sleep, but it doesn't work. I've tried putting them to bed later and they still wake up at the same time. It's frustrating!

3 of 4 of mine are early risers. My twins are up at 6 or 6:30 every morning, not as bad as 5 but still early to me. Time will tell with them. But if they are like their 11 y/o brother, they'll always be that way. My daughter is the only one who likes to sleep in and will fight me tooth and nail to get up and get ready in the morning. So if you think of it that way, early risers can be a good thing.
