Early Intervention Assesment - Pretty Amazing!

Clarissa had her assessment with EI yesterday (Elliot will have his next week). They've been in the program since they came home due to being preemies. I recall at their first assessment in October '05, they were testing at 3-5 months behind in all areas. Their next assessment was in April '06, and they were still 3-5 months behind in most areas - I was really disappointed that they hadn't done any catching up, but our therapists told us that they had done 6 months worth of development in 6 months, so that was a good thing.

So now, a year later, Clarissa is testing at 4-5 months AHEAD in most areas . . . how is it possible that she has done around 20 months worth of developing in 12 months? We knew she was doing well, we were pretty sure she wouldn't qualify for EI anymore, but we are just so proud of her! DH now says she has no excuse for not being valedictorian (we used to say that being a preemie could be her excuse) - not that there's any pressure or anything . . .

Elliot will be done next week, and we're not expecting him to be quite as advanced as Clarissa (except in verbal skills, in which he is way ahead of her), but we think he'll do really well too.

I was kind of hoping they'd still qualify for EI, because I have so much appreciated getting the services (and we get to go to EI playgroups for free . . . now we'll have to start paying the big $7.50 for the two of them), but I am really just so happy and impressed by my little 1 lb 15 oz baby girl . . . (now weighing in at around 26 lbs) :Clapping:
