    Hello Everyone,

Last thursday I was leaving work and of course made a trip to the bathroom, when I did I found bright red blood in my underwear. You can imagine the sudden panic and wave of emotion that came over me. I went to the emergency room, they did an Ultrasound and the babies were moving and doing great. They checked my cervix and said it felt great as well. No signs of early labor and they told me that this happens to some woman and unfortunately could not give me a reason. Well on the way home from the hospital I had alot more bleeding which soaked through my pants...again the same horrible feelings came over me. I called the ER that I had just left and was told that if I did not fill up a super size pad then to go straight to bed and call my doctor in the morning.

I called my doctor Friday morning, went in for another U.S. and again everything was great. No more bleeding just brown stuff (sorry that's TMI). The doctor said she thinks a blood vessell broke somewhere around my placenta and that we needed it to heal up. In order for it to heal I would need t on bed rest until the red blood completely went away. I had some red blood throughout the weekend, not much at all and since sunday at 3am have not had any. I went to the dr yesterday and it seems that the blood has no formed a half dollar size clot on my cervix. The doctor said they best thing that can happen is that the clot dissolves or that it passes but until Monday I am on bed rest. I go to the peri for the first time next week and I am so anxious to go.

My regular OB says that this actually happens to quite a few woman and there isn't anything they can do nor any reason why this happens it just does. Unfortunately she says it sets me up for probbably have to go on bedrest later on in pregnancy and it brings on the fear of pre-term labor.

So guys, has anyone else had a "bleeding" experience? I know this is long but I apprecaite your feedback and prayers that everything goes well. So far I'm not bleeding anymore and just hoping the clot goes away.

    Thanks for sharing,

    Jenn

I'm sorry you have to go through this! Even with the OB's assurances it's still scary to experience bleeding when you're pregnant. I had the same thing, 1st trimester, with both pregnancies. Twin pregnancy--cramping also, so I was convinced I was miscarrying. Just like you I was told this happens sometimes, no cause for alarm. I just listened to my OB....when she said rest, I did. My OB also warned me I'd probably have PTL...never did, went full-term both times.

Take care of yourself and don't feel guilty about keeping off your feet and resting. It's the best thing you can do for your babies. Good luck! :hug99:

I had my first bleeding incident at 15 weeks, 1 day and it was just a little bit, then 3 days later I had a gush of bright red blood ( soaked through everything) and went to the ER. They said that the babies were fine, but baby A was lying very low and that could be the problem. 2 days later I was in pain and bleeding again and my peri sent me to the hospital where they watched me over night. at the hospital I passed a very large clot ( sorry if TMI) and then started feeling better. Since then I have had some more spotting but things have been much calmer for the last month. the doctor put me on temporary bed rest at 15 w. 1 day, and then at 16 weeks told me I would be on bed rest for the remainder of the pregnancy due to baby A lying low and the placent crossing my cervix. At this point the babies continue to do well, and I am home growing my babies.
I know that this is very scary and sorry you are going through this as well. I would closely follow your doctors orders, drink lots of fluids, and take it easy.
    keep us posted!!

P.S. don't be scared of the peri... I love my peri and he really takes great care of my babies !!

I did not have any bleeding except for once after my exam that revealed my incompetent cervix, but I was put on bedrest at 16w4d due to an emergency cerclage/short cervix. I spent 15 weeks on bedrest, 4+ of them in the hospital. Very hard, but totally worth it for healthy babies.

In my latest pg I had three big bleeding episodes at 5wks, 7wks and 11wks... the last one was really bad..gushing blood...soaked through 4 pads in 2 hours...literally right through my pants... It came from the placenta. Called a subchorionic hemorrage...I developed a blood clot in my uterus as a result...called a hematoma. Both issues began resolving after I was placed on modified bedrest. Getting horizontal and resting is really important to allow your body to heal. Do not do any heavy lifting or heavy chores like laundry or vacuuming. At some point in the second trimester the placenta tends to move up and really latch on better, so the issue should resolve itself, but you do want to be careful. It puts you at a higher risk for placental abruption, IUGR and PTL...although I have very rarely run across someone who had this bleeding issue and went on to really have one of these other problems...most of the time it seems like it resolves itself without a problem. But you should be aware to watch even more closely for bleeding and for signs of PTL especially in your third trimester...obviously with twins you already have to be aware, but this issue just makes it a little more important. I went on to have my dd just fine...the only slight complication was that her placenta did begin to abrupt before she was born...thankfully it didn't happen until minutes before I pushed her out, so she was okay...but given my really long labor I was really thankful it didn't happen sooner. I also had clots that needed to be cleaned out and the doc was a little concerned about too much bleeding..but actually I found my pp bleeding to be very minimal compared to my other kids. So all was well. Hope this is the last issue you have related to this!!

    I'm sorry Jenn :hug99:
I did suffer on bedrest with DD1 and modified br with the twins, but not so soon. It must be very difficult and your experience sounds frightening.
You should become a Rewards Member and have a blast in the arcade! That will pass the time, believe me! Like when I'm supposed ot be working and end up spending the babies' entire naptime playing trivia
