I have heard of kids using ear plugs while in the bath to prevent water from getting in their ears and ear infections. I am thinking about trying this with my DD. Has anybody tried these? Where do you get them? And, do you have problems getting your kids to wear them?

    TIA. :)

My sister asked her ped about this because my mom kept telling us to be careful when we wash our kids hair. The ped said that ear infections can not be caused my water entering the ear like that. Anyone else hear that too? I think he said ear infections happen from within the ear.

LOL. My mom told me about this too from a friend of hers, in regards to her friend's granddaughter. Maybe it's an old wives tale. I thought I would see if anyone else has the scoop on it. Hopefully, someone here knows the real story. :)

I've also been wondering if ear plugs would be helpful. Hoping someone will post the truth on this.

I had to wear ear plugs when I was a kid until almost 12 yrs old. It was a pain in the tuckus. I had small holes in my ear drums, so I had to be extremely careful. (I still can't swim properly because it would mean my head in the water.)
I know they used to tell my mom that getting water in the ears can help cause ear infections, but so much has changed since then...
ERA: The reason I had holes in my ear drums was because of constant ear infections in both sides. It effected the drum part somehow and the holes developed. I am not the dr, and this is all third hand from my mom, who certainly is not a dr either.

My parents just used the regular yellow ones you get at the drug store we have all probably seen thousands of times.

You could try plugs. The plugs would help prevent Swimmer's Ear, but not the "snot-induced" EIs. My girls have to wear plugs every bath b/c they have tubes. They not a problem at all. The girls are very used to them.
    Good luck,
