I don't have girls my self but my friend got her little girls ears pierced at 3 months old. She took her to a place that did children hair cuts and piercing so their were experienced with kids. She put emla on her daughters ears at home as it takes around 20 min to have numbing effects and their were two people who did both ears at the same time. She said it went pretty good.

I did my older daughter's at around 4 months. No numbing cream...just went to one of the kiosks in the middle of the mall..questioned them on their experience with babies...I felt comfortable so we did it. She sat on my lap and they did both ears at the same time. I had a prepared bottle in hand to put in her mouth right after it was done...one big scream and then I inserted the bottle and she didn't wimper any more. Will do the same with my twin girl in a few months.

I just had the girls' done Sunday. I went to the same place that did ODD's at a kiosk in the mall. No numbing cream, one person, one big wail from each baby, DONE! They don't even mind when I clean and turn the earrings.

I only waited with the babies because they were so early. Their ped gave the okay after their 2m shots but their ears were still so tiny that I wanted to wait. My little one is only 12#4oz at 7m. ODD was about 9 wks.

I got my ears pierced at the 9 month pedi appointment. There are no other shots. The pedi did not pierce both ears at the same time. The neat thing about getting them pierced at the pedi is they use medical plastic earrings so you don't have to clean or turn the earrings. You just leave them alone and make sure they don't come out.
