I forgot to ask in my other post, do you all always follow up after an ear infection? They told me to bring her back in two weeks, I am not sure if I should do it or not. I think she got sick in the first place from being there for her well visit last weekend and if she is feeling better I would hate to bring her around sick kids, especially because she is a preemie.

If it were me, I would only because some antibiotics don't work. Ear infections suck! I hope it goes away quick!

Yes, I always bring them back because the docs always emphasized how important it was to make sure the infection was gone. Ear infections can be really serious.

Definitely bring them back. My DD had an ear infection 4 weeks ago and was on medicine for 10 days. He seemed FINE afterwards. Anyway, we went in 2 weeks later for a flu shot and they said he still has an ear infection. I had no idea. So they gave him a new medicine. Well, his ear drum burst that night with blood. It's totally ok - and I was told he is probably feeling better since the pressure is no longer there. But it was scary! He is now on drops too.

I do'nt bring them back unless the ear infection doesn't seem to be gone or the antibiotics weren't working. Morgan used to get a ton, but has seemed to grow out of them (our next step was tubes)...I only took her back once after 8 days...she was NO better. I was so confused. Here, I had only been giving her half doses of the meds b/c Reagan was also on antibitoics and I was giving her the same dose I was giving Reagan, which was half of what Morgan was supposed to be getting...DUH!!!! I always tRIPLE check now.

I actually haven't ever gone back for a follow up on ear infections. We were only asked to once, and it wasn't by our normal dr so we didn't do it (it's a 45 min drive to town).

I do, however, think I'm going to look into getting one of those ear-scope things for myself!

I would always do a follow up for an ear infection because fluid can linger in the ear canal for weeks and cause secondary issues with hearing and equilibrium if it is not caught and treated. My older DD is on her second set of tubes so I am hyper- sensitive about ear infections in our family.
