please help me out with this ladies.
my girl has been unhappy the past days and had a low grade fever and today she had a regular fever. turns out she has a middle ear infection and has to take antibiotics for 10 days.
now imagine, we live in Greece, it's hot, the beach is very near. the girls are very unhappy to be in the house. we've been spending time in the yard in a small baby pool or playing with the water and sand table (which means they are getting all wet). so what do you think? is she allowed to go to the beach? play in the water pool? get well outdoors?
the ent didn't say either way and dh didn't ask.

I would think as long as she feels up to it, let her go have a good time. Be cautious about her being out in the sun on antibiotics, sometimes it can make them burn easier.

If you are allowing the play with water at home, I don't see why a beach would be prohibited.

I just went to a presentation by our ENT this past week (I work at a children's hospital). He said it takes the pressure of being 2 feet under water to push water into an ear. I would check with your Dr just in case.

I would ask your dr's advice on the matter. It would seeem each has their own theory. My daughter has chronic ear problems, and at first, we were told to use earplugs for swimming, but when this wasn't working out well, the ENT told us to just let her swim, and then he gave me a RX for drops to put in her ears anytime she's been swimming. He also says that bath water and swimming pool water are less of an issue because they are relatively free of bacteria, but beach/ocean water, is more contaminated and more of an issue as far as ear infections are concerned.

So give a call and see what he says.
