We have a recheck at the ped office today but last night I bought some Ear Ache frops for B. I wondering if any has used them before and how they worked..... They have been on again off again sick for what seems like months....

Also is there a cough med out there that works that I can ask the Dr. for. They give me different kinds for the boys but nothing seems to help..... do thye just not work..

    TIA

Have you tried triaminic infact cough and decongestion strips? Those work well for us. I don't know about the earache drops.

those triaminic strips do work great and so easy for them to take...we had ear drops from the dr & they help soooooooooooooo much, within 2 days or less the pain fromt he ear infection was gone & they slept through the night...

Well the ear drops seems to have work assuming thats what was wrong with him...

We has scripts from the dr for cough med. and it does not work at all I think i have to try the otc stuff.... You would think that what the Dr. gives would be better hmmmm?

I've tried OTC cough meds a couple of times (against our ped's recommendation), and they didn't work at all. Our ped (and the AAP) says they are ineffective in children under 2, and I am forced to believe him now -- at least that seems to be true for us. Oh well, at least now I don't have to worry that I should be giving them something -- we just wait it out.

I usually agree that nothing works for cough....but the one thing I have found is Dimetapp Cold & Allergy. Takes their cough away. Works for all 4 of mine!!! We used to use the Triaminic Vapor Patches but they apparently stopped using those. My kids always get post nasal drip so it seems to work. I have also found some luck with the Suda Care Vapor plug ins..

Try Delsym. That's what our pedi allows us to give!

I'm assuming you are talking OTC ear ache drops? I have used the prescription ones, they work wonders! Instant pain relief, I've used them for an ear infection in my own ear. The decongestion strips like PP said work good.

as a side note, if there is a rupture of the ear drum (or suspect one) you do not want to put anything in the ear canal other than antibiotic drops.
