My mother in law loves to ask us (and she asks my SIL who also had twin boys), "Which one is the leader? Which one is the follower?" Ugh. What ridiculous questions because one, the boys are six months old and two, those are not useful labels.

My SIL and I agree that some people were just NOT meant to mother twins.

I got something similar to that at a New Year's Eve party by some random lady. "Which one is more aggressive?" HUH?!?! They are 2.5 months old!

But-I finally got the stupid twin question the other day...We were at Children's Place-which I need to buy stock in :p and a little boy came running over to the stroller and jumped up on it-no lie-but thankfully I had him in my arms. Anyways...The mom goes, "Are they the same age?"

Ummmm...let me think of that one....

Ugh! That's a question NO mom wants to hear. I took my babies to work and one of my co-workers started out with a really uplifting comment. "You said they were cute but they are CUTE! You need to brag about them more, " which was followed by, "They are both cute but in the cute competition, Asher wins." Heart sank. I don't want to hear THAT. I think they are both the most beautiful babies ever born.

That is AWFUL! One of my husband's coworkers asked me which one I loved the most. I'm not kidding. Then she proceeds to tell me that every mother loves one of her children more than the other. She openly admitted to caring more about her son than her daughter. I was shocked. I argued with her for about 15 minutes but I just couldn't take it anymore and just left. Some people!

I got that at Target. Here i am going through the checkout and the checker says, "how far apart in age are they?" I replied, "about 30 seconds." She looked at me like I was the crazy one?!

That breaks my heart!! People can say the dumbest things! When my twin and I were 12 or 13 our family therapist pointed out that my sister was the prettier twin, but I had the better personality. Ugh. He sent me flowers the next day with a card saying I was beautiful, too, but the damage was done. Like 12 or 13 isn't awkward and insecure enough?? I had never considered that my identical twin was prettier than me... what a moron! Clearly, I'm still getting over it!! :)

Last Sat. we were at a 5K fun walk for a local children's hospital and DS's principal came over to see the girls (we have only had them since March 6th so they are quite a novelty). Then later she came back with her DH and said to him "Here are the twins I was telling you about!" He looks in the stroller, looks at me and says "Are they the same age?" I was so dumbfounded I stared at him for a sec and nothing came out of my mouth. Then the principal grabs his arm to lead him away and says "I TOLD you, they are TWINS!" He then says "I know!" My DH and I just looked at each other. :)

I get "HE must have been born first" I don't know why people think that unless they think that because he is bigger. You and I know that that doesn't matter but to people it does. I say that DD was first and their jaw drops like I just told them they were aliens or something.

I can't believe people would actually ask which is your favorite, who do you love more, she is prettier. That is just cruel.

I was in Children's Place with my cousin and we saw a set of g/g twins that were probably about 2 and with both of their parents. The dad sees us and awws and the mom smiles. Then the dad says, "wow, one of each...you are SOOO lucky" WTF? He had twins and I took has he had girls so he felt less of whatever....so I said, hey two of anything is lucky! He said you are right and the wife walked away steaming, she must have been embarrased and mad!

On of my boys is basically bald, one has a good amount of curly hair. Today someone said to me "They're twins? But one has more hair than the other one... how did that happen?!" I wanted to say, "I just shave this one's head so I can tell them apart" but I just smiled and shrugged...

Have people never heard of fraternal twins?!

We get all of the standard ones too... Who's the dominant one? Who has the more outgoing personality? Same age? Who's older? etc....

I know this one pops up a lot. I have boy/girl twins, and people are always asking if they are identical. Uhm...no....
They don't look much a like at all (and of course they are different genders!). Two days ago a nurse asked me that. I figured that being in healthcare, she would know the difference between fraternal and identical!

Last week my friend and I brought the girls to Wal Mart. When we walked in the door she was pushing the stroller but handed it off to me saying "I don't want to deal with the crowds, all I can say is they're not mine" . lol. So this one woman who is stocking shelves asks me if they are twins, then asks me if they are boy/girl (they were dressed in matching purple outfits with flowers, I'd like to know if you are a mom who dresses your son in purple flowery outfits) anyway so then she asks me if they were delivered via C Section or vaginal birth, so it is starting to get too personal. Then she tells me that she has boy/girl twins, but she couldn't think of any twin names so she named them Adam and Brianna or something like that.

What are "twin names"? I guess she meant rhyming names?

I had a checker at target the other day tell me she had b/g twins too that were 27 and then asked if mine were fraternal or identical. Just goes to show not even other twin moms are immune.
The worst, though wasn't a question and came from my sister. My DD has always out weighed her brother by at least a pound but they are only a ½ inch apart in height. My sister was holding DD telling her how happy she was to finally have a niece and how she wished she could have had a girl and then looks my daughter square in the face and says, with a profound sigh, “I only wish you could have been the smaller one.” Thankfully my DD is too little to understand what her aunt said or meant, but boo did it get mommy riled

I also get the usual dumb questions and I realy hate it when I am being asked who my favourite is. Ugh. But a really dumb question to me is "who was born first?" When I asked why I was told that whoever was born first will always be more clever and stronger etc. I mean duh, how stupid. The only reason Athena was born first is because she settled at the bttom and Victoria on top. And they are by no means different, in fact Victoria who were born last is a little more advance physically than Athena.

We get the "who was born first?" question a lot. Here's the irony: THEY'RE ADOPTED! We just met them in January. Now, you could say "Well, maybe the birthmother told the orphanage, etc."
However, if you live here you know that it's illegal to have a child out of wedlock and you can face jail time and heaven knows what else from your family (they could get away with killing the woman). Now, the birthmother DID take a risk to take them to a hospital before abandoning them because she probably knew that Leila (who was just under 3 pounds) needed medical help. Leah was just over 4 pounds but was fine. Most of the time the babies are abandoned in dumpsters on on street corners.
Now here is irony for you. The woman can get in all this trouble for being pregnant, etc However, if a guy is on his way to Mecca and he wants some fun on the way he can pay 10 dirham (about $1.33) and get a young (usually between 14 and 18) girl for his "fun."
    But I digress . . . :)
So, then when we say "we have no way of knowing that!" they offer their theory based on their size. We had two ladies get in an argument about it b/c one believed the bigger one would come first and the other believed the smaller one would come first. I just wanted to yell "WHO CARES?!" :) DH and I have thought about lying and just naming one when they ask the question to get them to stop theorizing!

Just the other day I was in the check out line at the grocery store and the clerk, after being told they are twins, asked which one is older. I just stared at him. I mean come on... really? Fine... Addie by 11 minutes. Wow, makes a big difference, huh? Geez.

i have come to the conclusion that people just don't know much when they see babies. i get are they identical? ummm no they don't even look alike.....oh one of each wow all done in one shot must be a handfull...." oh who's the crazy one?" do you favor one over the other?
i can go on and on and on....
here is a good story.....my gf went to target on halloween with her DD and her DD was dressed in a cow costume well an employee came over to her and said i am sorry mam but pets aren't aloud in the store my friend says what lady says we have a no pets policy for the store and dogs aren't aloud in even if they are in carriers. so my friend says oh ok that's a good thing and thinking she was crazy began to walk away. the lady then said mam i have to ask you to leave with your dog because pets aren't aloud in the store. my friend says i don't have a dog and the lady said whats that in your carrier then my friend got so pissed she said this dog is my daughter in her halloween costume idiot and was so pissed she said she would never return to the store again!!!!!

I have had people try to convince me that my twins look alike!!!! They must be identical

Twin A: brown hair, 32 pounds, size 9 shoe, looks like a line backer, square face, regular eyes, kind of serious, very cautious
Twin B; BLONDE hair, 27 pounds, size 7.5 shoes, looks like a little peanut, round face, big eyes, very smiley, friends with everyone

I have also had people argue with me that they are not twins.........I was there, they are twins.

People try to guess which one is older (they were born 1 minute apart) they look back and forth, back and forth, and decide that the bigger one was the older one (funny part is that he was born 19oz smaller than the other twin)....I have also had someone compare their teeth to see who was older (what are they, HORSES?!?!?!?!.........LOL)

"were you trying for twins"? HOW DO YOU TRY FOR TWINS!?!?!

I get that one, too. Sometimes I want to just rant about how sick I was during my pregnancy and how I spent almost all 9 months on bed rest, and that I am actually (unhappily) 20 lbs lighter than I was when I got pregnant, and still very weak and frail, thanks to hyperemesis and puking my guts out every day for months, unable to keep anything down, spending every day for months hooked up to IV's, and then there's the heart condition and the pre-term labor... but instead I just force a smile and say "yep, I had them". I love when people say "well you must have had a C-section"... I did, but only because they were both breech, not because I couldn't deliver them vaginally! And for the record, I am not even that small. I am 5'8" tall, and while I am skinny now, my frame is not super tiny.

    People are weird sometimes....

We get 'What do you do when they both cry at once?' umm. watch?

and the other really annoying one- '2 boys?' when they are in their carseats. DD's seat is pink and all her clothes are pink. DS's seat is brown. I'd say it was pretty obvious that they are b/g twins. I'd like to say 'why yes, but one is a transvestite.' but I haven't had the courage yet. :D

The most repeated one that I get every time I leave my house with our girls is "girls or boys?". I just about scream when I hear this because I always dress them in pink! Every time I am getting them ready I put pink on them so tha tI don't these stupid questions! and BAM I hear it again. I think sometimes that people here in the gulfcoast area of Mississippi are color blind because the pink can be really bright and they still ask "girls or boys?".

The next one asked after that is "are they hard?" HUH? For me no, but I seriously think that EVERYONE should have twins so that they would realize that their questions are so flippin stupid! Sorry, I hadn't been out much due to baby sitting and I had a day off yesterday and so I went out to Dr. appt, and WIC appt. and Got both of these as I was walking out to my car.

It might not seem important as to who is "older" but being a twin myself, those 4 minutes that I was on this Earth first got me the front seat a lot! :)
