My DS has always put things in his mouth, but lately it seems like it's worse. He'll bite toys or anything else like paper products, cardboard boxes that snacks or cereal come in, and just yesterday he saw where there was an old sticker removed from my laptop cover and licked the cover! Ugghh! What is going on that makes him do this? I'm thinking maybe he's teething and needs the stimulation from these things? It's gross and embarassing, any ideas, please send them my way! Thanks.

My one son also does this (they are 34 months. My other guy is a MAJOR thumb sucker and I think for my mouther, it's his way of soothing himself. I have noticed within the last two weeks or so it has lightened up so I"m guessing it's just a phase...like everything else.

The odd thing is is that they both have all their teeth so for him, it's not a teething issue. I really think it's his way of soothing himself.

No ideas, just wanted to commiserate. My DS also still puts objects into his mouth and I always assumed he just wanted to taste ("feel things with his mouth"). You are right...it is gross and I keep thinking it's also dangerous. I just keep repeating that "the object" is not be put in is mouth and don't eat "the object." If I make too much a fuss, it becomes a gross out game and escalates.

GL and let me know what works for you.

This may be a long shot but have you had his eyes checked? I only ask because my youngest is visually impaired and he's my only kid that puts EVERYTHING in his mouth, or mouths it. But his therapist says it's another sensory way of feeling an object.
On the other hand my neice used to put everything in her mouth and she has perfect eyes, so it totally could just be him :)

All 4 boys put everything in their mouth. It's normal. But I've seen girls do it too.

Yeah, Roycie does that for us, but Alice doesn't. I think it's a boy thing too.
