    (((hugs)))

I bawled and bawled and bawled when my DS had it done - you're not alone! We were still in the hospital before going home, and I just felt so badly. But, he won't remember any of it. And better now than later.

I decided not to do it with our boys. I couldn't stand the thought of putting them through that. DH couldn't give me a good enough reason to get it done.

Same here. I just couldn't find a good enough reason to do it. Their pediatrician said there really was no difference so I just couldn't, especially after visiting a friend who'd just had her baby and seeing a bloody diaper.

Why do it if you felt that strongly?

All of my boys have been circ'd and the first 24 hours are awful but after that they are fine!! Mine have all gone very smoothly and I am very happy I had them done. You can do this!

Good luck! When my 4 and 2 year old had it done when they were a few days old they were fine afterwards. They weren't cranky or anything.

no problems with my DS either! He was just fine afterwards and didn't even fuss. WE just kept some vaseline and gauze on it for 5 days and then it was completely healed. GOOD LUCK.

Good luck! I'm not looking forward to it either but as DH likes to remind me, lots of men have had it done and are not traumatized by it and your son will be the same.

my son had it done in the hospital prior to discharge and like the other posters - vaseline and gauze and all was good...

oh and he didn't fuss or cry - he thanked the nurse by peeing on her!

Thanks for all the support! He's having it done under general anesthesia (so he won't feel any pain during the procedure) and can even go back to school on Thursday. I do feel really bad that he won't be able to have breakfast tomorrow and won't understand why I am starving him :(

Good luck tomorrow! My son had surgery for his hypospadias at a year old. The not eating thing wasn't nearly as bad as I thought. Can you give clear liquids until a certain point? I know I woke him up to give him a bottle of some apple juice. When he came to he certainly drank everything that was given to him! And he has no recollection of the surgery! I think it's much harder on us parents than them.

Because DH and I had decided that it was what we wanted to do - DH is, and he felt strongly that DS should be as well - but just like with shots, I just feel badly about putting our babies through anything painful. He was totally fine right afterwards - nursed and didn't seem like anything even happened.

I wouldnt have done it that late in age, but to each his own...I would have rather it been done in the hospital but it didnt work out that way.

DS is doing great!!!! :) We had a mid-morning surgery, and we gave him water in the morning and then we got to the hospital and he was so busy checking everything out that he forgot he missed breakfast.

While we would have loved to do it before he came home from the hospital, that just wasn't possible for medical reasons. But having been to my nephew's bris, I actually think DS might have preferred doing it this way!
