We have been having trouble with nap and bedtime for about the last week. DD wasnt feeling well and DS wasn't helping. Last Thurs. I was watching the monitor at nap and looked away for a second and when I looked back I see DS in DD crib. I ran into their room before he could climb back. He got in trouble and they both went to sleep. Two days later I was watching again and realized she was coaxing him. Telling him to put his "babies" in her bed, then his blankies, then to get in her bed. He did and I went in right away and this time they both got in trouble. He tried again but she told him "Mommy said no."

Now I thought it was pretty funny, until today. We put them in for nap and as I was cleaning up DH calls me to look at the monitor. DS is standing in the middle of the room guiding DD out of her crib. I opened the door and they were both grinning.

I have one converter kit but I guess I'm ordering another one. Good thing their doorknob is broken from the inside so at least they can't get out.

I'd honestly put the mattresses on the floor for now... too risk imo to leave them in crib once they can climb out.

Yes I'd convert them to toddler beds or in the floor. I didn't like the idea of crib tents

Yep! Toddler bed or matress on the floor time. Mattresses on the floor worked best for us at first because our kids would push their beds around on the laminate (strong little boogers).

Yep, we put the mattress on the floor for all our kids when they climbed out. It got earlier with every child, LOL. I heard the twins heads hit the floor one too many times. After going through a severe head injury with my middle DS, there was no way I would chance them getting injured.

our twins did the same thing....at 16 months! For a while i took the sides off each one and pushed them togetehr to make one big square crib bec i felt they were too young to be in beds. it worked for quite a while bec apparently DS wasnt interested in climbing out of his crib....he just wanted to go play/sleep in his sisters! They've been in beds now since before they were two. As with you, their door is broken and thus, at least they cant get out. Going away with them overnight, however, has been a real joy!

I got a good chuckle out of this... it is always funnier when it's happening to someone else!!!

I am embarrassed to say that my twins were climbing in and out of their cribs for some time before I finally converted their crib (I dreaded the transition and luckily, no one was ever hurt). I also have a video camera in their room and it has been SO helpful in training them to stay in their bed. I ended up camping out outside their door with the video monitor and would poke my head in the room every time someone got out of bed. I would show them that I could see them "on TV" and that they needed to stay in their beds for sleep. It worked, and hopefully the camera will help you too! Good luck!!!

Well we have the toddler rails now. I Already had one and got really lucky to find a second one. The manufacture nor longer makes it but my store had one left. I would be doing it this weekend but the kids are sick so it will have to wait.

Don't feel alone. DH and I delayed it for a while too. At 18 months the boys began crawling into each others cribs. We would stay up late to make sure they didn't break their necks even though the floor was padded with pillows.
Finally we gave up. Two toddler beds and a weekend from hell. Now they still sleep together but in a toddler bed instead.

*giggle* it's cute but scary. My DS climbing out of his crib prompted our transition as well. However, even after converting the cribs to toddler beds, he STILL felt the need to climb over the foot of his bed and into his sisters bed, even though the opening was right beside him. So, we had to buy actual toddler beds. I'd much rather him fall from a foot off the ground than from 3.5-4 feet off the ground. Also, because our cribs were two different ones, he got his leg stuck overtop of the railing of his crib and wedged under the railing of his sisters crib. I just knew if he fell over backwards he'd break his leg.

I hope your kiddo's feel better soon and you can get them switched over to the toddler beds!
