DH and I went away for the weekend to my sister´s wedding and left the twins with MIL. We came home and I´ve noticed a few changes. I dont mean to imply it was due to being at the ILs´ but maybe I´ve noticed more as I was away.

Anyway, to the point: DS cried today at being put in the bath which is a first. He was fine yesterday which is puzzling. I put him in feet first and he didnt want to sit - he grabbed me and cried, so I left him standing, holding him and just distracted him with his toys and he settled fine. Also, he doesnt like me washing his penis and laughs like he´s embarrassed and pushes me away. Is this just an age thing? He also seems a little distant from me too and ignores me more than before.

So am I just being a silly, paranoid mother or is this just growing up - or both!!!? Oh, I should point out that he has teeth through which could be the obvious explanation.

    TIA!

I don't really know anything about boys and penises having only dealt with vaginas but my girls did go through a little phase where they hated baths. It lasted about 2 weeks and it was the biggest PITA! They screamed the second I tried to put them in the tub and it coincided with the beginning of swim lessons. We thought maybe swimming was traumatizing them but it stopped as quickly as it began.

For my girls it was definitely the tub that was the trigger to the tantrum, not being naked, they have always loved to be naked. If you suspect something went on at your IL's then I'm not sure what you should do, definitely not leave them there again though.

It's hard to say what's causing his behavior. I would keep an eye on it and see how he acts in the next few days, as well as while he's around your ILs in the future, too. Most likely, he's fine and just being a goofy little guy, but there is always the possibility that something happened (which may or may not be abuse).

Often when there are any sort of changes in my boys' lives & schedules, their behavior is different when they are reunited with me. Mine are usually clingy and grumpy, but every child has their own personality and expresses themselves in their own way. It could be as simple as the fact that he's not pleased he didn't get to spend the weekend with you!

Oh no, I dont suspect anything. MIL spends a lot of time with my LOs so she knows them well. Thanks for your advice though :)

It sounds like it might just be a phase he is going through and top that with spending time with your in-law's, he is just probably trying to get back in sync. My DS went through a phase where he would only take a bath standing up and the whole neighborhood could hear him if he had to sit down.

Probably a phase and a little bit of a 'hangover' from his wonderful weekend with your MIL. Mine also went thru a phase of not liking baths and it happened overnight, but only lasted a few weeks. GL.
