Both my guys have really dry skin...like alligator texture dry...really bad! I've been using Eucerne on them it's almost like vasoline but it is not going away....is there something better I can use?
Also, Ryan has a couple of scaly patches on his belly...really red and dry and scaley looking....should I be concerned?

Use real vaseline as often as you can (not the cream, the jelly). I used it on Evan's alligator legs after ever diaper change and before bed. I slathered him like crazy and then covered him with cotton clothing. My doctor recommended this. Worked well, but took a little while to kick in. Also, I put Aveeno bath/shower oil in their bath (the kind for adults, not babies).

I use Mustella on my boys. You can get it at Babys R Us. It makes their little skin soooo soft. It is kind of pricey though.

Have you tried Aquaphor? If nothing's working, you might want to talk to your pedi - could be eczema, and they might need an rx for it. Hope it gets better soon!

I use Aveeno moisturizer (the kind for excema - sp?) and it works great. Will had dry, red spots all over his back and this stuff worked great. The ped also recommended using a hydrocortisone cream (like Cortisone 10). That also works really well. Hope it clears up soon!

My DD has the same issue, plus some eczema -- we've had our best luck with Cetaphil lotion (applied liberally, sometimes with every diaper change), plus Aquaphor on the worst spots.

I would also avoid all regular baby washes and shampoos, and just use plain water to bathe them, or a tiny bit of Cetaphil wash.....I'm also recently having luck with the unscented California Baby shampoo (now that DD actually has hair, LOL).

Braxton has had the most stubborn eczema I've ever seen. And his skin (especially the legs) is just the alligator texture you're describing. We've tried:

    -oatmeal baths
-Aveeno baby lotion and cream wash
    -Aquafor
    -Cetaphil
    -Vasalene

NOTHING has worked until.....this weekend at BRU we found this Gentle Naturals Baby Eczema Cream. It has worked wonders in just 3 days. For the first time his skin is still soft the day after his bath and lotion application. Hope this helps.

My son had eczema on his face & we used Arbonne baby cream, it cleared up in a few days. It's unscented so that is good for eczema. The Dr recommended a bunch of other creams but nothing worked, this is plant based & totally natural. Good luck....

Both of my twins have severe eczema. Aquapphor is really good but the dry skin always came back after i didn't use if for like a day. My pedi finally recommended derma soothe she had to prescribe it it work wonders my twins have not had the scaly dry skin since. their skin is so smooth and soft like a normal baby for once. I was always upset that they could not smell like Johnson and Johnsons because their skin is so sensitive. they only negative about the Derma ssoothe is that it does contain steroids so i could only use it on them for no more than twice a day for two weeks but i have not needed to use it again there skin still super smooth and they dont have to scratch or do the dry skin dance any longer I just use the Eucerin on them throughout the day to prevent it from coming back and bathe them in warn short baths every other day and keep them lubed up all the time. They also have to only wear cotton avoid polyester and use dreft. No fragranced soaps or lotions either. It also could be the formula that they are drinking I ha dto switch to ALimentum Or Isomil just in case that was causing it. Like someone else said though Hydrocortizone cream also does wonders for them too. also for shampoos the doctor prescribed selenium because they had really dry scalp too.
