My girls have awful dry skin on their poor cheeks. It is so bad, it looks like they were burned. I am applying lotion almost constantly but nothing seems to help. I have even used A & D ointment . Does anyone have a good lotion that clears up dry skin almost immediatley and prevents it from coming back? TIA!

We do bath with baby oil(about an 1/8 of a cup to a 1/4 of a cup) to keep their skin soft.

Aveeno baby lotion. Get the real think stuff. It controls Aaron's very severe dry skin and eczema.

I've had to use vaseline with Sarah. She has had some bad breakouts with her eczema, and it seemed to work well.

Here's one more option - One of my brother's is a pedi and he had noticed Kate's dry skin at Christmas, and rec. switching them to Aquaphor ointment (it comes in a tub). It has been wonderful! No more dry skin, and it works great on diaper rash too! We cover them head to toe with it every night after their baths! Good luck!!

I was just about to recommend Aquaphor too. It's greasy but oftens does a great job.

If that doesn't work, you might end up needing some Hydrocortisone; check with your Pedi. We have to be careful not to overuse steroidal creams because it can thin the skin, but the Pedis and dermatologists often recommend Hydrocortisone 2x/day for 10 days (I would use Aquaphor the rest of the day to keep the skin moist since the hydrocortisone creams don't seem to keep in the moisture).

Also, I felt that my boys' eczema got better with the humidifier on at night. If you don't use one, you may want to consider using one until summer and the weather gets more humid.

Actually we just stopped using our humidifer and that is when I noticed the dry skin getting worse. I think I might have to pull it back out of storage...

    Thanks!

We tried lots of things during the winter this year: Aquaphor, baby oil, J&J baby oil, vaseline, cetaphil. The petroleum products actually left a couple of grease stains on clothes. :(

I found a little stick of J&J Soothing Naturals balm and it has worked WONDERS. Since it got cold here again, I started using it again to keep chafed cheeks in check. It smells good and is so easy to apply. Just rub the stick on and that's it. I don't have to use my hands to apply/rub in.

    :)h

Both of my best friends girls have terrible eczema & she swears by the aquaphor. Justin has eczema & all around super dry skin and for him the Eucerin Calming Creme works miracles!

We love Cetaphil at our hosue for everyday dry skin/irritant issues. For really bad dry skin/rash I ditto the Aquaphor.

I actually took my two to a derm. to get some advice because I couldn't find anything that worked. She had me switch to Aveeno Baby creamy bath soap and use Aveeno Baby Cream (I was using lotion). There was a huge difference when using the two together. My ds gets spots on his cheeks too. I put the cream on his cheeks several times a day and regular vaseline at bedtime. Sometimes it is worse than others, and I can definately tell if I have missed an application.

We use Mustela Dermo Pediatrics lotion as well as the bath wash. It does a great job keeping Ryan's eczema away. Sofia does have a little rash on her arms that we are trying to get rid of, so I am going to try the auqaphor on her.
