My DD has dry and senstive skin. It's still a challenge for me to find a good moisturing lotion to use on her. I have tried Eucerin, Cetaphil, Jergens, Vasline, Shea Butter...to name a few on her with no serious improvement. I will lotion her down and a dew hours later her skin looks dry. Anyway, DD had an appointment with the pedi today and I mentioned my concerns with her dry skin. She recommended that I use Aquaphor as her daily lotion. I was a bit surprised by the answer because I'm only famliar with the small tube of Aquaphor and it's not that cheap. Has anyone use Aquaphor as a daily moisturizor. A friend of mine suggested that I try Avon Moisture Therapy w/Oatmeal instead. What do you use for dry skin on your kids?

Aquaphor is great, but it's expensive! They do sell a tub of it for about $30 I think. I really like Lubriderm for everyday use. Have you tried it? I would also cut back on her baths if you are bathing her everyday. I only bathe mine every other day in the winter b/c their skin gets so dry. I also run a cool mist humidifier in their room and give them occasional aveeno baths to help with the itchiness. HTH :)

ETA - bathe them without soap too! I use cetaphil for bathing if they get really dry!

Dry skin here too with DS. I do the baby oil in gel form and then I put the jammies on right away. WHen he wakes in the morning his skin is still moist.

There is a new(ish) Aveeno lotion out that works well for our girls very dry skin. Extreme moisture relief or something? Tan tube, red (maroon?) colored top. Best thing we've found and not as expensive as Aquaphor - although I do use that one really dry patches.

I used everything on Sarah and nothing would work that great. However, I later found out it was a food allergy causing her eczema. Once that was treated, she started to get better and the lotions started working. I also had to stop using a lot of soap. Baby soap still dries her skin REALLY bad.

My Dh has serious dry skin problems in the winter. He uses that Avon lotion with great success.

My kids' skin was so dry when they were on formula. Went away when we switched to milk. I don't know if there is any correlation, but thought I would share that tidbit.

Anywho, we used Aveeno Oatmeal Colloidal Oatmeal Bath. They are packets that you add to the bath water. For soap we used Dove (regular Dove body wash per the pedi's suggestion), and Eucerin. The triple combo seemed to do the trick most often.

I second the Aveeno Extreme Moisture lotion. It works great on my little guy with eczema.

We use Lubriderm and Aveeno Baby Care Moisturizing lotion daily. Our pedi also recommended that we not use the "bodywash and shampoo in one" products because many can be harsh. Our DD does not have sensitive skin so we still use the J&J bodywash/shampoo, but we were advised to use Touch of an Angel shampoo/body wash instead. He has been using it for 9+ months and have had great results.

I did see an ad for Aveeno Eczema Care lotion/products that has been awarded by the National Eczema Association Seal of Acceptance and have been wanting to try it, but cannot find it anywhere. Has anyone tried it? If so, where did you find it?

I use Mary Kay Intense moisturization cream on my kids faces/hands when they are really dry. It is $30 for a small jar, which is kinda pricey but it works really well.

The main ingredient in Aquaphor is petrolatum, which is the same thing as Vaseline pretoleum jelly.
My ped said you can use Vaseline and it does the same thing, just much cheaper. I use Vaseline on mt twins chapped faces in winter and it works well.

We just visited the pedi last week for Tessa's eczema. She suggested Eucerin or Cetaphil (the cream in a jar). The Cetaphil seems to be working well for us. She also said to try not to bathe her as often, but if we have to, to just use water to wash her. If we have to use soap, she said to use Dove. She says it is the least harsh and shouldn't wash all of the necessary skin oils away. We have also added a humidifier to their room. Most of her dry patches have gone away, but they will come back quickly if we don't use the Cetaphil. Our pedi said that the baby lotions are pretty much useless and evaporate as soon as you put them on.
