I put Mikayla down for a nap today in her co-sleeper in Dh's office, and DH was going to watch the twins while I went out shopping for a few things. I come back and Mikayla had gotten a hold of a dry erase marker. You wouldn't believe the places she decided to color. We had dry erase marker in her belly button, on the bottom of her feet, on her scalp, all over her legs and arms, all over the wall and the co-sleeper is covered with it.

How in the world do you get dry erase marker out of clothing??

Oh my! I'm not sure how to get it out, but I do know that hairspray works great for ink. Maybe you could try that. I'm not sure it would work. Just a thought.

Hairspray is all that I can think of. I know that it worked for me on a hard surface (the dry erase marker sat for a very long time and would not wipe off), but I don't know about fabric.

Yikes! I have no expierence with Dry Erase makers, but I do with crayon. Collin decided to call the living room wall and dinning room tile earlier this week! I hope you get it out; what a mess!

Oh my Bridget!! and where was Daddy ??? :rotflmbo: LOL I can so see that happening here in my home! She is sooo funny!! I bet she was proud too wasn't she??

I have no words of wisdom on how to get that out either....my first instinct would be hair spray also...let us know...because we all might need to be removing that stuff one day!

I'd try the spray on stuff they sell to remove stains from the dry erase board.

We had a pen incident yesterday as well although it was limited to fingers and faces and it was a washable blue marker. They are only mildly stained. I'm counting my blessings because there was a black Sharpie in the same drawer (that has now been banished to the garage).

Oh Bridget!! That's awful. At least on her you know it will wear off eventually. Your PnP looks toast to me! I would keep it and give it to her when she's a Mommy someday and tell her the story!!!

    She's darling though!

We had a dry-erase incident on DDs new winter coat. She had it at school and somehow a child drew on it. I never got it out and it became a play jacket only. GL!

Perhaps not a great solution for in the house, but white gas (what you use for fuel in a camping stove) works, at least on some surfaces (we used to do presentations in the woods using dry erase markers on big white garbage bags, and thats how we erased).

Whatever you try on the walls, I'd do that "try in an inconspicuous spot" advice that most cleaning products come with, to make sure it doesn't change the color of your paint or wallpaper.

Maybe Barbasol? Shaving cream will get permanent marker out. What a mess though! She really did look proud of herself, lol!

I'd have to agree with a PP that your PnP is toast, but if you are determined to clean it you can call the company and find out directly from them the best way to clean it, and any other areas she colored on. You can usually find the number on the package the pens came in. If you don't have the packaging, try looking on-line, or go to the store and copy it down from another package.

Personally, since the damage is done, I would use the PnP as their art center from now on. :D Set them up in there (one at a time) and give them a marker or two (the washable ones are awesome!), some paper, old play clothes and let them go to town!

Your story sounds like something that could happen at my house when my DH's home alone with the kids. Several of my walls have been colored on with a Sharpie, all while he was home in charge. <_< He's really an awesome husband and Daddy, but somehow these things still only happen when he's in charge!

A regular pencil eraser removes permanent marker off of hard surfaces (plastic, tile, counters, etc)...maybe try that?

As far as fabric, I'd get some ink remover and try that. We had some luck with the ink remover on some blankets, but that was tainted with a sharpie.

Last resort: call your dry cleaner and ask them...they'd know.

Good luck. What a pain to deal with (although I must say I'm secretly enjoying that my kids aren't the only ones causing household damage/ruckus on a daily basis) :icon_eek:

Big Hugs. I think that since Daddy was supposed to be in charge of her, he needs to find the solution and take care of it.

I laughed at the Art Center, good idea!

    Hang in there.
