I was just wondering at what age did everyone drop the third nap? I feel like all I do is try and get my girls to sleep.

I want to say that mine dropped their 3rd nap somewhere around 5-6 months. They just stopped going to sleep when I would put them down...instead it turned into a crib party. I was sad to see that nap go...I enjoyed the few quiet moments before the onslaught of dinner and bed.

I know EXACTLY what you mean! I feel like all the girls do is sleep (every 1.5 hours), and can't get anything done outside the house. I thought I would LIKE having sleepers!

MIne droped at 5 1/2 mo. THey would just fight sleep and then only sleep for 20 min or so. I say drop it if you can. The first week was hard as they were more tired but it is better now. YOu can also try going longer between naps so the second nap is later. THey will go 2 1/2 to 3 hours sometimes between naps.

We dropped ours by 7 months. I noticed the girls were sleeping longer during the first two naps and not in need of the 3rd.

We still haven't officially dropped ours. If they're home with me during the day, we typically do a 2 nap day. But, daycare days aren't so lucky. They don't sleep as good, so typically require a 3rd nap when we get home (around 3-3:30ish). Sometimes they cat nap & other times we have to wake them for dinner!

I'd love to be on a consistent 2 nap schedule, but I can only do so much on daycare days (which is 11 days/mo)! We dropped the 3rd when they started sleeping longer during their other 2. As long as mine sleep until 2pm at their 2nd nap, they can usually make it to their 6pm bedtime. If they're up before 2, they USUALLY require some sort of nap before bedtime.

We were late... my girls took 3 naps until they were about 10 months old. Each of their three naps was between 45 minutes to one hour.

I guess my kids are just weird but we do FOUR 45 minute naps.. They never take even one longer than that so.. It's FOUR..

I am unable to leave the house due to this.. Sucks but.. I'm willing to be housebound IF it means no cranky babies!!

Cohlee- I know what you mean.. It's such a weird cycle isn't it?? You just do the same routine OVER AND OVER AND OVER... It's nuts! And when they are short nappers... It's even worse!

Am I the only one with 4 naps a day???

They are 6 months old- 5 adjusted and it's always been like this!

Dropped the third nap at 8 months...they just wanted to play. On occasion after that, when they were super tired, they would take a quick cat nap in the late afternoon but we pretty much had it dropped.

Mine dropped the 3rd around 9 months. The last nap was late, like 4:30. They no longer needed this late afternoon nap and extended their am and pm naps to a little. GL!

I have been wondering the same thing. Getting mine to take their third nap anymore is so hard. If they fall asleep it is at most for 30 minutes. I guess from reading PP it may be time to think about getting rid of the third nap.

Arjun seems to be doing this the last couple of days. He is taking good naps in the first 2 so it is like he doesnt' need it. Indira needs that third nap, I just let her sleep 20 minutes and that seems to work.

My girls will sleep really well for a few nights then go back to being awful sleepers again for weeks! They are back to doing the 30min nap crap and I am wondering if it is because they are getting too much sleep. It seems like their whole awake time is spent preparing for their next nap!
I think it was about 4mo that I dropped their 4th nap and the other 3 naps got longer so I am wondering if they might be ready to drop their 3rd nap. It is a fight to get them down and they are boycotting random naps. I have been putting them to bed even earlier (like 530) and they will sleep for a good long stretch (usually 5+ hrs) but then they are up every hour after that!
Seriously I just cant win! Today they took a 30min morning nap, and a 15min lunchtime nap, and it does not seem like they are going to take their 3rd nap yet again! I even took they for a walk hoping the fresh air would help! UGH!!!

And here's the kicker, they really aren't that cranky (during the day, evenings there is some fussing)! They are fine until I put them in the crib... then the screaming starts!

We dropped right around 9 months or so. What worked best for us was...
    7am-wake time
    9am--first nap
    2pm--second nap
    7pm--bed time
It took us some time to get to 2pm...we eased from 1pm into 2pm, but once we did, we had really happy babies and got much better naps out of them (2 hour for both naps some days). Now I can't wait to go to just 1 nap! I don't know what I will do with all that time--it will be nice to be able to get out of the house for longer periods of time!
    Good luck :)
