We have always rocked the boys to sleep but I decided when we moved house and they settled in - it would stop. Elliot had got a bit wriggle in our arms and so we just put him down awake and Lo and behold - he went to sleep! The first couple of times with about 30 secs moaning and now nothing! No crying or anything. I am amazed - thought he was going to be a nightmare!! It's just wonderful! Max is half and half and getting better. Just sharing my fantastic miracle! Thanks for reading.

great job, good babies! I feel your joy, we always rocked and bottle fed babies to sleep, once we started to put them down awake, I was terrified, but they are so used to the routine that they are actually looking forward to the crib! I usually hold them for a couple minutes with music, but they would just wiggle and turn towards crib, they just wanted to get the heck out of my arms and lay down, it's soo great!

I did the same thing around 18 months with my DD. She did cry the first day, but after that, it was awesome! One thing that I think helped was explaining to her that I was going to put her in the crib while she was still awake and that she was supposed to close her eyes and go to sleep. I think she really did understand the process when I explained it to her.
