Drool Eczema -- any magic cures?

One of my DD's has an awful case of drool rash - all over her cheeks and chin, and some even on her neck. I've done Vaseline, Aquaphor, Aveeno, changing her sheets daily, warm water compresses, and even resorted to a light steroid (which cleared it up, but then it came back). I'm not hip on doing more steroids on her face right now, it's not like it is bothering her (just me, it looks pretty bad!). Does anyone have any magic cures or suggestions??

    Thanks, Erica.

(I keep thinking this means we are going to get teeth soon, but it's been a month and no teeth yet)

No magic cure, but I used Eucerin Plus Intensive Repair Body Cream and that worked pretty well. I slathered it on all the time and even when I checked them before I went to bed, I would reapply it at night while they were sleeping.

Right there with you - it's so painful looking, but doesn't seem to bother J (yet?). I'm using shea butter, too, but the best results appear to be from keeping him inside at all times, out of the cold...not sure I can stand that, though.

Lanolin! Try Lansinoh or a generic version -- it's sticky and messy, but works great. My DD is a thumb-sucker, and it's a must for her thumb....

Maybe she has a bit of a yeast infection? Try lightly dabbing some Lotrimin in the bad spots and then covering with diaper cream. That's what worked for us!

My DD had it on her eyebrows and the doc recommended hydrocortisone ointment. It worked in one day. Not sure how that would work around the mouth...maybe you can be very careful with it.

We use Vaseline or Aquaphor... I lube Meara up each day (she gets it worse than Ana) and reapply throughout the day. sorry I don't have any other suggestions. -Leighann

My DS had a terrible rash under his chin on his neck, it was BRIGHT red. He kept pulling at it and scratching it. It would kind of clear up but not all the way so when the pedi told me it was eczema and prescribed hydrocortizone cream I didn't want to put it on him. So I let it go and kept trying different things nothing worked so I finally resorted to getting the cream. I used two very light applications over two days and it is completely gone. I have stopped using it and so far it hasn't come back as long as I wipe under there and keep it try. My other DS's face gets all red and dry from rubbing it on the sheets or from drooling around his paci but I just use Aquaphore on that and it seems to work. Just thought I would share I know I wasn't too fond of using the cortizone but it seems to be the only thing that worked.

For the drool rash, the doc told us it was fungal so we used the generic lotrimin until it cleared up and then used diaper rash cream as a preventive. Has worked wonders...never had it again.

Ditto on the vaseline...I put it on a few times a day, but when they stayed the weekend at grandmas, it totally dissapeared because she applies it ALL the time, like I bet every hour.....

Desitin seems to be the miracle cure for us. I find that regular Desitin works a little better but Desitin Clear is a little less noticealbe and petroleum based. I've used the Desitin on my own dry patches too.
