Driving from Oklahoma to Orlando - SeaWorld

Discussion in 'The Toddler Years(1-3)' started by AubynandAshtynsMommy, Apr 21, 2008.

We will soon be DRIVING from Tulsa to Georgia (to visit relatives) then to Orlando to go to SeaWorld. My twins will be 2 when we go. So, here are 2 questions for those of you who have been through this with 2 year olds...

    1. How do we "survive" such a long car ride? We're thinking of leaving at night so they sleep for most of it and staying in Memphis which is half way. Then driving the rest of the way the next day.

    2. If you've been to SeaWorld, what should we be sure to do for 2 year olds? AND - if we are there all day - what do I do about them missing their nap?

Any advice is appreciated! Thanks! :)

I don't have 2 year olds and I don't have advice about the long drive. But, I LOVE SEAWORLD!!!! So for what it's worth, here are my recs: Make sure you feed the seals and don't miss the penguins! Hands down those are my 2 favorites parts of the park. Feeding the dolphins is fun too but gets soooo crowded - you'll need to make sure each child has an adult to help out.

As for the nap, are you staying nearby? SeaWorld can be done in less than a day - easily. You might skip out for awhile and let the kiddies nap, then come back for another round. I think you just get your hand stamped on the way out.

I have never done it myself, but my brother has. He lives in Minnesota and drove from there to Disney World. I remember him leaving really early like 3 AM and drove until that night. Slept in a hotel and then went at it again. He has 4 girls!!! They did it. If they did it, then anyone can. He has also driven from CA to Minnesota a few times as well. It can be done!!
    Good luck and have fun!!

haven't done ok to fl but have done ok to ca. I suggest lots of books and small toys. The ga stop will help lots too. We now have a vehicle with dvd player and that is awesome.

We went to seaworld san antonio and our girls like the mixed animal show(otters and seals) the whale show was a bit slow. They loved the penguins and had fun in the water park

ask me later about our twin trip for ok this year we usually go to the zoo but haven't set a date yet

I can't answer the road trip question as we are getting ready to do the same thing for the first time soon.

However, since I live in Orlando I go to SeaWorld at least once a month with my twins and can offer some advice. My girls have always been great at theme parks. There's so much to look at and everything is very exciting to them. As far as sleeping, SeaWorld is great to walk around in--not usually too crowded and has a big loop. When I go, I put the stroller back and walk around the park at a steady pace. They usually sleep for about an hour and I get my exercise. Another option that I haven't tried yet but think would work is to go the Manatee Rescue exhibit and go below the water level. There's a quiet room that's dark and air conditioned. The employees have always been super accomodating about the fact that I have twins and HAVE to take my stroller into exhibits/shows which isn't usually allowed (of course, I go with a friend who also has 2 kids and mine can't walk yet--so it's pretty obvious that I can't do it without the stroller).

My babies love the Arctic Adventure, Shamus Happy Harbor (which has a baby station with changing tables), and Shark Encounter. Since yours are 2 they would really enjoy the Pets Ahoy show.

PM me if you want any more specific info on Seaworld or where to stay in Orlando. Have a great trip!
