My boys REFUSE water in a sippy cup. It all started when they were sick...and I added juice to the mix! :pardon:

Well-they drink the water if it's from the bottle of water-or from an open cup.

So-when did you start them drinking from a regular cup? Or have you started yet? I put just a little bit in the cup and they drink that, and then refill. Surprisingly they do relatively well with it. So far.

If you have done it already-how long until they became really good at it? I know "they" say sippy cups aren't good for the teeth/speech(I think), and I think we are supposed to get them on regular cups.

But what do I know?!!? LOL!

DD can, but she spills a lot. DS just dumps it...

If I remember correctly, we started using cups around 16 months. We had to watch them closely and kind of be ready to grab it really quickly. I would say they were good at it by around 20 months.

mine are enthralled with cups... and maybe now that I see someone else said that by 20 months they were really good at it I should let them start trying! I'm thinking drinking in the bathtub, might be our best bet for learning!

Mine can take sips from cups but they can't hold them on their own without spilling them on the floor.

We give our babies those little Dixie cups that people usually use in the bathroom for when they brush their teeth.
We give them water in them only, that way if they spill its a small amount and its just water.
WE also give cups in the bathtub.

We dont do this consistently so, so far we dont have consistent cup drinkers (because we are still in the throwing utensils/food stage) but the few times they are allowed to use them, they do very well.

we haven't tried cups yet. However my DD drinks out of a water bottle and she does great, until she doesn't want it anymore, and throws it on the floor  but when my DS tries to drink out of a water bottle he chokes. So we will not be trying for a while, especially since they love to slam their sippy cups to the floor when they are eating!

Mine will drink from cups while in the tub or the kiddie pool, but I'm not brave enough to try it "for real".

What is up with that?! My guys do this 10 times during a meal, then get ticked off because they can't have any milk! This morning my poor dog got hit in the face with a flying sippie!
