Okay, so I was never really into the whole dressing them the same. I don't know if it was so much because most of our clothes were hand me downs from singletons but I went to Kohls yesterday and bought them tons of summer clothes. I found myself getting more doubles of things than usual. Like two of the same shorts but then different colored tops to coordinate. I know that's more like coordinating their outfits but I also did buy a lot of double outfits and have been actually more into dressing them alike. Isn't that weird? Not sure what that is about. I still prefer dressing them with coordinating outfits (same outfit, different colors) but I'm suddenly finding it fun to dress them exactly the same from time to time.

I also often get people asking how much older Lorien is because she is taller and people think they are like a year or so apart so maybe subconsciously I'm doing to say, "Hey, they're twins." ??? Who knows.

Just my rambling thoughts and share for the day.

I have boy/girl twins and I coordinat them all the time. Like they will wear jeans and brown shirts. Or maybe have a green theme going on. I never dressed them in really matching stuff until this winter. We bought them some matching GAP shirts and the first time I put them in the same shirt they loved it!! That inspired me to match them every once in a while.

I do find myself looking at matching things for my two girls (2 years apart). My mom did that to my older sister and I and I just laugh looking back at the pictures and then wonder what the heck I am doing to my girls?!?

That's funny b/c we had a lot of hand-me-downs from singletons in the beginning as well - so I didn't dress them alike. But now I like "coordinating, but not matching" outfits! It's so silly isn't it? But you can't always get "coordinating, but not matching" so sometimes it has to be matching. It's easier for my husband to dress them in the morning to when he takes them to daycare b/c he knows what outfits go together.

I was adamant about not wanting to dress them exactly alike, and I'm still against it. But, I've found that I do really love to coordinate their outfits! I've started buying the same shirt in different colors or rompers that are the same style, but different patterns. I noticed the other day that I've been choosing a coordinating outfit for their older brother too without even realizing it.

    PS: I Mel! :D

I know that I miss those "Ooooh Twins!" comments we used to get when they were little. We still get them occassionally but not as much because Ana is taller now and looks a little older. So yeah maybe you are trying to 'twin them up a little' as we say in my family! Enjoy it while it lasts.. won't be long until they have preferences about what they want to wear!

Hi Mel! I was just out and looking for some t-shirts for them. I saw this dinosaur shirt that I knew they would both die for so I got the same! I think it will be super cute when they wear it together. I coordinate but every once in a while, I like to do exactly the same. It is so cute!

I was very adament about not dressing my girls alike either and if they were it was coordinating not exact. As they got older I started doing more coordinating or exact because like your girls mine also have a big height and weight difference and they always thought they were a year or even two apart. People were (and still are) always surprised when I tell them my girls are twins or 1min apart, so when we go out I try to get them dressing alike. They did it more often when they were younger but when they turned 5 they starting having their own styles so they usually don't wear clothes alike to often.

Just one less choice to make in the morning. The girls really enjoy dressing alike and until they protest I will continue to do so. They are a size different so Jazz's clothes become Jessy's daycare clothes the next season.

I coordinate a lot, but try not to match them exactly. But I have some family who always buys them matching things, so sometimes they match.

I have always dressed mine alike, or occasionally coordinating but I did notice recently how I want to do it more than ever so people know they are twins.

I have been given lots of grief by friends and family for dressing them alike :( and thought about stopping until I read something a lovely TS'er wrote. I don't remember the exact words but she said it's special to have twins, so why not make it known. Or something to that effect. Ever since then, I haven't winced once when I get the "are you going to do this foreverrr" question.

ETA: Or maybe it was something like "it's a benefit to having twins". Anywho, you get the point. :D

I never dressed my kids alike when they were tiny. I thought it was cuter to have them dressed differently. But now that they're 2 they often REQUEST to wear the same thing!

I used to do it all the time when they were little, now that they are bigger I'm actually doing it less. I guess the new has worn off. I still have coordinating stuff, but their personalities are just sooo different that it seems wrong to dress them alike now. I let them pick out their own clothes most days now and they rarely pick out things remotely alike to wear.

I dress my boys matching often. I love it and they are too young to care. When they are old enough to complain about it I'll stop. An added bonus is that I will always know what my child is wearing if he were to go missing... I just look at this brother.

You would think I am reaaallly weird - not only do my girls' clothing - from bows to toes - match exactly, my clothes are frequently coordinated. If they wear leopard print, I wear an animla print. If they wear pink tunics, jeans & pink shoues...I wear a pink tunic, jeans & pink sandals. It feels fun to me, the girls like it & we get lots of positive comments...so why not.

It is an obsession of mine to dres them alike! like BellaRissa said from bows to toes!!! sometimes if we are just in the yard playing I will dress them in unmatching outfits as playclothes but it bothers me! I even buy them matching pjs! I also love to coordinate them - and actually I want to coordinate all 5 of my kids for a portrait!

I'm surprised at the kids who still let the parents pick the clothes :unknw:. Except for holidays or pictures, they pick their own clothes. So no, we never match anymore. Not that I ever did matching outfits, but I did do coordinated or stuff from the same line at Gymboree. Yes, I liked it when they were coordinated, I thought it was cute, but I also like seeing what they come up with for outfits.

The other day, they happened to be wearing the same shirt (we had a preschool field trip, so they were wearing their preschool t-shirts), and we stopped for ice cream on the way home. I actually got twin comments, which I NEVER do ! So that was kind of fun, haven't been recognized as a twin mom probably in two years.

I dressed them alike very rarely when they were little but I definitely did it more once they reached preschool age. I think it may be because their personalities are so well established by then that it's less likely that relatives will get them confused if they dress alike. At least that's my theory for why I did it. :)

R & E are usually dressed alike because otherwise they argue over who has the prettier or cuter outfit! Occasionally they will choose different outfits but mostly want the same one so it is easier to buy 2 of everything. The only thing they always choose different are their shoes--in sneakers one likes Nike and one likes Reebok--weird!

My concern over someone unfairly getting the prettier or cuter outfit is actually what led me to coordinate my twins most of the time when they were little (I pretty much never matched them). Now that they choose their own clothes, they usually don't coordinate or match. However, I still do buy coordinating clothes when I can because that still feels fair and the girls generally expect that there are two of everything. Of course, my definition of coordinated clothing has loosened up a bit to include totally different clothing items that each have, for example, an animal on them. On a side note, the girls have started to appropriate some items of clothing as their own, and when we look at pictures, the they still can't tell themselves apart, but they often know who is who based on the clothes.

The boys sometimes have the same shirt but different colours. Cosmo has blue & Keagan has green.

They are 2 differn't kids with different personalities so the have there own style.
The boys also had there own birth annoncement

I have almost always coordinated but rarely matched their clothes. I'm obsessive about coordinating though...if one messes an outfit, pants, or shirt, I must change both into new coordinating outfits...not matching, just coordinating. My DH thinks I'm a freak.

Although it bugs me, I do let them wear uncoordinated clothes when going out to play in the mud and stuff because then we wear handmedowns. Even with handmedowns, I'm generally able to pair things into coordinating outfits (stripes go with certain other stripes, solids with certain other solids, or I do same color with different patterns). Pants aren't an issue because they have yet to really fit into any handmedown pants so I buy two of those at a time as needed...the boys always wear the same bottoms/pants/shorts.

We had lots of hand me downs too, so we end of wearing different things a lot. I like them to be seen as individuals so I like them to wear different things, however the outfits are similar types like jeans and a shirt or both in dresses etc. When I buy new coordinating just seems easier. To me it just seems easier for me to organize and know what I have for each girl. We have a grama who thinks exact same is cute so every outfit she buys is exactly the same clothes, so we wear same stuff too. I guess we do it all, but my favorite is coordinating. I noticed some stores make that really easy such as Naartje?? not sure of the spelling. They always seem to have a big variety of coordinating things. Esp. for girls.

When I dress my boys alike people seem to notice more that they are unique individuals, especially family. When they are wearing different clothes ppl don't have to actually look at the child to figure out who is who. lol, maybe it's a mean trick, but around my in laws, i try to always dress them alike.

This made me laugh because I have been known to dress them alike when seeing friends or family that swear they can tell them apart (they are so different, how could anyone get them confused, blah, blah, blah...I've been known to mix them up unless I'm paying attention to who I'm talking to)...umm...dress them the same and it gives a lot of those people pause!
