Another silly question here for you twin moms....

But, I am due in the beginning of July. I live in Northern CA, where temps soar from about 90-115 degrees from about June - September 30th. I have a swamp cooler, so I can keep the house around 70 degrees. What do I dress the babies in at home with the cooler on? And, if I take them out, are the able to regulate their body temps? If so, a onesie would do it, yeah?

Just trying to get all this info in before I deliver!!! Thanks!!!

Dress in layers in the coolness of the house. I keep my house around 70 (south carolina here), and onesies with socks works, if they are on the floor I'll put light weight pants or a lightweight sleeper on them.

Outside in the summer, the lighter the better! Just little t-shirts or onesies will be fine! You'll have to be more concerned with them overheating, they get really hot in the carseats so if you are out and about, try to take them out if you are outside so they don't overheat, and keep them in shade as much as possible.

We were in the Bay Area when the babies were born in June. Inside, we pretty much always had them in pajama sleepers and the occasional onesie if it was over 75 in the house. We didn't really change their clothes to go outside because the babies shouldn't be outside much anyway until they are 6 months old. They can go out but they should be protected from the sun. We went out all the time and always used the sunshades on their carseats and stroller. If we were going for a walk, I'd often go with a onesie, socks, and a light receiving blanket over the seat.

We keep our house at 72 in the summer and 68 in the winter. I dressed the boys in long sleeves and pants/longsleeve footed outfits in the winter and short sleeves and pants in the summer. When we went outside we didn't use socks (in the summer). I judged it off of my temp since I am always cold. If I needed a jacket/sweatshirt I'd make sure they were dressed warmer. You'll be using a lot of blankets at first so short sleeve onesies will be fine.

We would dress them in onesies or those one piece short outfits in the summer for going outside. Overnights they would wear a onesie with a cotton sleep sack.

In the summer we dressed the babies in onesies or one piece romper outfits. If they seemed cool I would put cotton pants on them. To sleep if it seemed cool in the house with the air conditioning they were in cotton footie pajamas. On days where it seemed cool and damp they were in fleece footie pajamas. When we went out I would put little shorts on over their onesie unless they were in a one piece outfit. We tried to keep them in the shade as much as possible and like the pp if it was hot we would take them out of their seats so they didn't overheat.

I was wondering the same exact thing.

    LOL.

A swamp cooler is like an AC, only cheaper to run and install. A LOT of old houses have them. They are typically not in every room, mine only vents to the main hallway and living room. I think they run primarily on water? All I know is they are not as efficient as an AC, but about a fraction of the cost to run and maintain.
