Hannah is VERY into dressing up. She has some hand me down gowns, heels, and jewelry, all very girly things. Well Ben wants to do everything that his sister does...

I could care less, but DH would like to encourage pretend play with a more masculine tone for Ben. Ben has a cowboy outfit that he prefers to wear over the pink tutu. BUT, I need some cheap ideas for boy dress up clothes. I really don't want to go buy costumes, but rather pick up inexpensive accessories here and there.

Any ideas? He has a tool belt. Just needs a hard hat...

My creative juices aren't flowing yet so I only have one for you at this time. Go by the firestation and they will give you some fire hats. My oldest loves them, plus the trip to the firestation is cool too.

We also got some of those hats that the guys wear at Ruby's and we play restaurant.

My son sometimes says he has to wear a tie for dinner so he has some old ties fron DH. At my old school we use to have mens coats and we use to cut and hem the mens pants.

We also made capes with old material. The boys loved to play super heroes.

Any thing pirates. It is pretty cheap to get pirate items.

If I think of more I will post

If this is DH's issue, maybe he should come up with the ideas!
Personally I'm all in favor of letting kids wear (or dress up in) whatever they want -- but let's see, masculine dress-up ideas...

A chef's apron? (one of those ones that Daddies wear while grilling ;) )
    Cook's hat
    Old briefcase

Hmm, it's tough -- accessorizing is not so much a male thing...?

Hey Kate I think you live by it, US Toy Co. They have a lot of great small things for dressup that is decently priced.

Blake has a firemans outfit, and train conductor outfit. He also will wear DH's ties and baseball jerseys, and my kitchen apron with a chef's hat (we got the Ruby's ones too!) But ultimately he ends up walking around in the boas and princess high-heals!

Maybe go to a secondhand store and get some old ties, sport coats, hats, stuff like that. Also superhero capes, daddy's old shoes. HTH!

Any sporting outfits that dad has - Hats/shirts, etc.

Use some of mommy's makeup to be a clown

Dress one in red to be a "little devil" and one in white to be a "little angel"

We have little plastic fireman hats that are a huge hit. If it makes you feel better, Ryan is always walking around with Sofia's pink purse and using the fake lipstick. Drives DH nuts, but I think it's adorable!
