The kids are getting to that age where taking clothes off & on is so much fun! Fun for them = too much laundry for me. It's been so easy to find some little dress up stuff for dd, though & I have a bottom drawer for them to play in. All I can find is little girly princess stuff, though! Ds loves to play with them & honestly it doesn't bother me......but how come I can't find play-dress up clothes for boys?? My sil found some outfit for him that was like a christening outfit (although she only paid $0.50 for it) ......but when he tried it on I realized I couldn't handle it b/c it looked too much like the outfit my nephew was buried in.

Are there any other options? I'm always keeping an eye out (not wanting to spend very much, though) but never seem to find boy stuff.

do you have a Party City nearby? Sometimes during the year they unload the old Halloween costumes and they are great!

I actually found pirate hats in the dollar bins at Target w/in the last couple of months. Also check out resale stores...we got a couple of construction hard hats for just a couple of bucks. That's all I can think of right now but I was feeling the same way....where's all the boy stuff?? LOL.

HTH! good luck in your search.

I've found tons of play hats at yard sales. We have a fireman hat, several construction hard hats, a baseball hard hat, and an army hat. I haven't found any clothes but I haven't exactly been looking for them (we aren't there yet). I think I'd do like PP suggested and check ebay for costumes. There are usually a ton for sale. You could get those ones that are one piece and basically a slip on suit with the tie in the back. You could also get a couple of DH's old t-shirts and paint stuff on them. Put dots on it to make a dalmantian or a cow. Give them some old belts, some of those plastic clown shoes. A cowboy hat, a bandana. Some cowboy boots. You can get kid size scrubs I think.

Those were a bunch of random ideas. Hope that helps! Shannon

Sam's Club had a boys dress up trunk at Christmas time this past year. It has a pirate, a cowboy, a fireman and a policeman outfits, and several accessories. The clothes are cheap and mostly shirts - no pants, but it does the trick. Both DS and DD enjoy it. Of course, both DD and DS enjoy the princess dress up trunk also! :) So, they're out there. Search the net, maybe you'll find one - I got several hits in google when I searched on boys dress up trunk.

The Imaginarium section at TRU has dress up clothes. I have seen a pirate, train conductor, policeman, fireman, doctor, etc. They are a little pricey but sometimes they are BOGO.

I have also found several different dress up hats at our local Dollar Store.

After Halloween I always stock up! I also consider Halloween costumes to be an 'investment' because my boys play with them for years and years and years - we absolutely get our $$$ out of them. I am just always on the lookout for things that look like they would be fun for boys to dress up in. I don't usually find them with the regular children's dress-up clothes, though - I have to be creative! My boys favorites:

Old Cowboy hats, boots and vests
    Fireman vest and hat
Dragon, frog, bear costumes (1 piece, from Costco, type)
Buzz Lightyear costume (bought at the Disney store for $12 right before Halloween a few years ago)
    Scooby-doo costume
    Old Karate uniform
Old camoflauge shirt with a bandanna around their head

Ditto the advice to stock up AFTER Halloween. That is how we acquired MOST of Ben's dress up clothes. He was content to wear Hannah's dresses, but now that he has clothes of his own, he prefers to wear them.

    We have for Ben:

    1) Fireman's outfit
    2) Cowboy
    3) Pirate
    4) Power Ranger (his new fave)
    5) Hard hat/tool belt
    6) Chef
    7) Spiderman

As PP said- POST Halloween rocks!

I also pick up stuff at

Target Dollar Bin (good for cowboy hats, green hats, glasses, silly bow ties)

Party stores are always good for hula skirts/silly hats, etc

TRU and many toy stores carry them but they are pricier.

If you can sew- they have simple pattern at Walmart/Jo Anne and cheap fabric.

I saw some Red felt (but they weren't floppy) cowboy hats in walmart tonight. I think they were $3.98 each. They were in the toys, they have an isle w/ random things. They also had toys guns w/ holster, etc.

    HTH
