Is anyone else suffering from MEGA swelling? My feet and ankles started to swell several weeks ago but this week my legs wanted to join the party. When I got home from work the other day and saw how HUGE my legs were I freaked out and started to cry. I looked like a swollen bit of road kill, totally not sexy. I saw a friend the other day who is due with one baby in a week and she was wearing a skirt and cute sandals! I haven't worn a skirt in over a month and the only shoes that fit are fugly flip flops.

    Anyone else hugely swollen?

On a happier note, on one my 'death to swelling' walks yesterday a woman stopped me to ask when I was due. I told her next month (I have embraced my 'twin' due date at 37 weeks) with twins and she said, "You look soo good! You really look pretty. Good for you. Have a wonderful delivery." I was VERY touched and thanked her for saying such kind things.

Sorry you're swelling, I'm not having issues with that yet.

That was so nice of that lady, I wish more people were like that.

That was a very sweet comment!!!

On the swelling, I cmpletely feel your pain. Would it make you feel better to know I went from a size 5.5 shoe to smushing my feet into size 8 wide flip-flops? My ring size went from a 5.5 to a 9. I literally WAS the pillsbury dough boy with swelling all over. It took about 3-4 weeks post-delivery, but it did go away. That's the silver lining to this cloud - you will go back to normal, i promise!

I have just got the extreme swelling the past week or so. I had to take off all my rings this morning too b/c my hands are starting to swell. I bought those anti-embolism stockings from the drug store and they help tremendously with the swelling. One of my feet just swells right up as soon as I get up in the morning. I have been wearing the stockings though and it does help a lot. My OB doctor recomended these. Also I keep my feet elevated at night. We only have a few more long weeks left.

My fingers are very swollen. I haven't been able to wear my wedding ring for a few weeks now :(

My cankles came in at around the same time so don't feel bad. I was blown away at how huge my feet could get and no they aren't very sexy, but that's o.k.:) My right foot gets more swollen than my left for some reason. The hard thing is finding shoes that still fit you comfortably. I have one pair of flip flops that still fit and that's it! I have to shove my swollen feet into my sneakers to go to work, it's the hardest thing! I've resorted to putting ice packs on the tops of my feet when I'm at home and tying them on with either a belt or a sock. It looks funny, but it really helps to take the swelling down. It's a great excuse to get a nice foot massage though:)

Oh, don't remind me. With my first I had swelling both ankles. With the twins, only 1 leg but both ankles and it was 10 times worse. I was in pain as well. I had leg u/s done to check for blood clots ... I remember walking around in down town Chicago near the hospital ... on my flip flops ... mid November ... On a good note, it dissapeared very quickly after delivery, and when I found out their weights I wasn't suprised anymore either!

Hang in there, and keep your feet up when you can (I know it helps for about 5 minutes?!).

Thank you everyone for your words of encouragement and your solidarity! I love the ice pack on the feet idea. Too bad I can't keep my feet in a bucket of cold water under my desk.

My swelling began to get pretty noticable last week, and it's gotten progressively worse since then. I took off my rings lat Friday, not a moment too soon! I have lost my ankles and I'm working on a nice pair of "cankles" now.... I wore a dress and flip flops to work today (I figured I could get away with the flip flops on Friday) and my feet looked huge! I may be wearing flip flops to work every day from now on! All I'm waiting on now is the swollen pregnant head and I should be all set....... I feel your pain!

I do love the people who tell you you look great, even if they're making it up, it's still nicer than the staring and comments about how huge I am!

Hang in there and I'll try to do the same :)

Just wanted to join the me too party. :) I've been swelling for weeks. I got an rx from my Ob to wear sandals to work and I wear flip flops every day now. It's all that fits.

AND I have carpal tunnel in my right arm/hand from the swelling. I haven't had feeling in the tips of my first two fingers for weeks.

I sure hope it all goes away once the babies come. I'd really like to feel my fingers again. :D

I hit the swelling the same time you did. The swelling is SO bad that I'm actually glad I can't see them past my belly! :) Even my "big" shoes are starting to get tight. It is pretty depressing.

I know what you mean about the legs, too. The skin is so taught/tight that it kind of hurts. On top of the feet, too! Ugh!

Oh, and *Sully* - for some reason the numbness is only in my right hand, too! Go figure! It started with my thumb and pointer finger, but the only thing I can feel now is my pinky!

We will all feel so wonderful to get our bodies *somewhat* back to normal! After the four weeks of swelling, I found that nothing helped. Hang in there - almost there!!!

I have been swelling for several weeks now. I can only fit into flip flops and my legs are also huge. It got so bad that blood vessels in my legs popped and it looked like I had a rash for a couple of weeks. I get so angry seeing women in cute shoes and shorts. I feel your pain but I am willing to do what I need to in order to get my babies here safe and sound.

BOO! I'm part of the swelling ankle club too!

My right ankle is HUGE - it looks like I have really bad GOUT! My left ankle is a little swollen but nothing compared to my right ankle. Question though... Did any of you get a tingling sensation in your swollen ankles and hands?
