I figured this was the best place to ask as you guys are in thick of it :)
anyone using the Dr Brown glass bottles?
i hated almost every bottle we used with the twin till we found one we loved, of course they dont make them anymore
so i have heard lot about the Dr Brown bottle but thought i would ask here, LOve them or hate them.
one thing i did hear is that they leak, is that true.
please let me know what you think.
i dont want to go thru the bottle search again like we did with the twin.
    Thanks

  2. We started using Dr. Browns based on the recommendation of the occupational therapist that is treating my kiddos for reflux in the NICU. Since then several practicioners have also recommended. If you go to Babies R Us or similar store you can find both standard and wide neck nipple styles and both propolyne and glass bottles. The down side is that they have extra parts (an internal stem and neck) which means extra parts to wash. I do like that they have lots of sizes of nipples....every thing from Premie which is really slow up though Level 4 and a Y cut for cereal if you have to thicken. Both mine still have reflux, but I have to assume it would be worse without.

I use Dr. Browns and I love them. They will leak if you fill above the top line. Stay below and there is no problem.

I used avent at first and was very dissappointed!! Both my reflux babies had a terrible time getting there wind up and after reading several reviews i thought the dr browns were worth a shot. Not sure if it's coincidence but both babies get their wind up easier and they seem to have less of it since switching bottles.
The extra parts doesn't seem like any extra work at all it's just 2 extra parts, in the great scheme of things they don't count! I say go for it!!!!

I avoided them like the plague b/c of the extra parts. I too, tried every other bottle out there! I liked the Playtex Vent-aire the best...but it turned out they had extra parts too!

Love them! They saved my son from gas pains and I am getting them together to use them for our twins, too. The extra parts are nothing - I used the glass 3oz size, then when he started eating more at one time, I moved up to the 8oz plastic (BPA-free, of course!). I tried 3 other brands and swear by Dr. Browns...

We use the Dr Browns BPA free, but not the glass ones. I would never use glass with my two as they have a habit of pushing the bottle away in their highchairs when they're down, and they always land on the floor.

The extra parts really aren't a big deal at all, and if you assemble the bottle correctly without overfilling, they never leak. The minute you go over the 8oz line is when all the leaks happen. If you read the instructions with the bottle, they're really clear about it and its no problem.

LOVE LOVE LOVE them!! We tried every other bottle on the market....these are the only ones that worked for our reflux babies! yup there are xtra parts to wash and kind of be tedious...but SOOOOOOOO worth it! (we also use PBA and not glass) and only leak if the parts aren't put together tight or filled above fill line...

    good luck!!
