I had a dr appt and an u/s today. The U/S was first. The tech drove me nuts. I'm not 100% confident that he knew what he was doing. I think he measured BabyA's head 5 times. BabyA is now head down and BabyB is still transverse. The only concerning thing is - up until this point BabyB has always measured 3oz smaller than BabyA. Well today she measured 13oz smaller. My dr said that he's not TOO concerned. They do want to do another u/s in 3 weeks to monitor her growth. Dr.K said that her fluid looks fine and the blood flow to her looks good. But he just wants to keep an eye on her. BabyA measures 3lbs 10oz which puts him in the 50% (large for a twin) and BabyB measures 2lbs 13oz which puts her in the 3%.

I lost 2 lbs since my last appt (10days ago) Dr. K didnt seem too worried about that either. He did say "I don't want you losing weight at this point" I'm only up 13 lbs total at this point. Dr. K said it could be water weight. I'm just going to keep track of it.

He called in to schedule my c-section date. It will either be April 29th, 30th or May 1st. He said he wondered if we should do it a little earlier (at 37wks exactly) because he didn't want me to go into labor on my own. I told him that with my son I didn't go into labor until 41 1/2 weeks (I ended up with a c-section with DS) After I told him that he had no problem with scheduling it at 37w5d. We are just waiting to hear back from the hospital to see which day is open.

How concerned should I be that BabyB is now 13oz smaller than BabyA? Is there anything I can do to fix it? or have done to have caused it? I know my weight gain (or lack thereof) isn't ideal - only 13 lbs at 30 weeks. But I started out overweight anyway. With my DS I was up 18 lbs at 28 weeks (I gained 30 lbs total with him)

    Any ideas/advice would be great.
    Thanks!

You could try drinking some Boost to help provide some more protein and calories. I just try to eat a balanced diet which gets harder as your stomach gets smooshed. The dr doesn't seem too concerned so I don't know what he would want you to do, but the Boost wouldn't hurt. Good luck.

I am in your boat but I'm only 28 weeks. Our boys were 3 oz apart around 18 weeks and now they are about 10 oz. apart. Baby A is 2lb 9oz and Baby B is 1lb 15 oz. My peri didn't seem to concerned either. He told us that he is seeing the size discrepancy more often. I'm drinking boost and trying to lay as much as possible. I hope everything works well for you!

I am also going through something similar but you are much farther along than me. I'm at 26 weeks and Baby B is having clear umbilical cord blood flow problems. The specialist and the OB are hoping we make it to at least 28 weeks but neither think the babies will go to 30 weeks. They are worried about reversal of blood flow putting Baby B in distress. THey did say they will monitor size still but for us blood flow is the key.... As of last week Baby B was 9 oz smaller than Baby A and they said they'd be very worried if they started growing more than 1 lb apart in weight (much like yours are now) though I think at your stage you're babies are much more developed and much larger than mine and will be fine. Somewhere on this site there is a weight gain chart that shows the average weight ranges for babies at each week. Both of yours sound pretty healthy.

    Good luck!!

    Thanks for the replies!!

I'm going to start drinking the Boost drinks. I've been trying to eat more it's just hard because I'm not very hungry and when I am hungry I get full really quickly.

I will have to look for the weight gain chart. I'm trying not to worry too much.
