wellll i guess the appt went okay. he gained 8oz, which she said isnt enough (i think it's pretty good!). she gave us a referral to the ped GI doc and our appt for that is tomorrow at 4:15. and his upper gi is thursday at 8:30. she says he could have a UTI and they will do a catheder. i said no i wasnt comfortable with that. i have 7 siblings, at some point they have all been tested for a UTI before they were potty trained. all they did was stick a little bag around their parts and wait for them to pee. isnt that how you test for an adult to have a UTI? they pee in a cup right? whatever, theyre not doing that to him "just to see". they make no sense. she wouldnt change his meds, said to wait for the upper GI. i said hes acting the same as he did before he started the zantac. whatever, i'll talk to the new doc tomorrow about it. maybe he doesnt have reflux, but theres something wrong with him. i guess we'll know for sure on thursday! here's what he does when he eats, he takes about 1-2oz just fine, then starts spurting, and turning his head, and pushing the bottle away. hes happiest when he is getting close to the 3hour mark when he should be getting hungry to eat. i mean HAPPY. smiling, cooing, pretty much the complete opposite of his "other side" lol. i have noticed putting him down to sleep after 90minutes helps TONS!!! (thank you again ladies!!), but he's still acting funny when he eats. argh i dunno! thursday cant come soon enough!!

I remember when my twins were little and they needed a sample.. they just got the wet diaper.. that said, I don't know what they were looking for.. but could be a UTI.
I hope you find some answers. Yes, 1.5 - 2 hours is the amount of awake time for babies this age! Please keep us posted!

I don't know what to tell you. I just wanted to say GL with finding the solution to his problem. It's never fun NOT knowing what is wrong with your child.

Ellie was the same way. After 2 oz. she would start fussing. Even just putting the nipple in her mouth, she would start screaming. I thought she had gas, so I'd burp her and she'd still scream. It would take a while before she'd finish the bottle. I assume it was the acid coming up when she burped that made her so fussy. We changed from Zantac to Prilosec and it has helped a lot. No more fussing while she eats at all. If I could just keep her hands out of the way, she'd be so easy to feed now. Hopefully, the GI dr. will prescribe something stronger. Good luck.

I agree, mine were sleeping about every 2 hours as well at that age & once I realized that was what they needed we were all happier :)

Good luck Thursday. Mine usually did 90 minutes awake, 90 minutes asleep, 24 hours a day at that age.
